Don't have a macro lens, so I used my older camera. So far, I am pretty happy with the score, but everyone is guessing it too. Guess we got room to go up or down!
On another vein, looking at the current front page it seems that the strangle-hold of technical type images of water drops etc. is FINALLY being broken. I hope the dawn of more interesting and imaginative images is here!
Clearly most DPC voters find those excellent technical images interesting or they wouldn't be on the front page. You just seem to have a low opinion of their taste. If you don't think it takes some imagination to create those technical shots then I'd like to see you thoughtlessly get one on the front page.

A score over five and five comments in 38 votes are both good figures at DPC -- especially for a first entry. Welcome, and don't be discouraged (FWIW you are well ahead of my entry).

OH goody because I have a 5.4 at the moment. Yeh! Being new I have been really happy with my scores.
Later when I have some time I am going to try to guess what all of the macros are one by one. I am hoping for some sort of a little prize maybe if I guess? ;O

Only 4 comments mention anything other than a guess..and they all say good technicals...but my score is at 4.6xxx. So I'm just curious as to how easy to figure out what it is factors into your vote?
Me personally no but I think that yes some people are doing this... Sad really but I always vote on what I think is good or not... even for a shoehorn...

I am voting on technicals. I don't care what the macro is for the vote but to me it seems that people went a little overboard on the editing because it was advanced editing when they could have let them be more realistic. I think the macro is fun to guess and see but not something I am voting on. I am voting on how much I like it and the technicals.

The only thing I noticed after a few votes and comments was that if they made a guess, I received a vote of 4. Which is a bummer. I do have a 5.3 tho so I am thinking maybe some are not getting it so I am hoping for more puzzled voters then lol
Shoehorn is when a picture doesn't really fit the challenge, but someone uses a title to try and make it fit. I guess an example would be someon entering a landscape shot into the macro challenge and title "A macro shot of the world"
Wow still no one has been able to guess mine but yet I am drifting further away for the the 6's. Just don't get it. I was thinking if they couldn't guess I would be doing better. I have received some great comments from some well known heavy hitters which gave me the false sense that this was going to do well.
I dont comment to much. I dont think I should teach but I like them so I guess others will to. I better start commenting then.
It's almost certain that you will learn more from the comments you make than from those you receive. Remember that your opinion is as valid as anyone else's. I find the most helpful comments simply fill in the blank: "I like/don't like this photo because ___"
BTW: given your username, you should definitely check out the OEDILF -- I haven't participated lately, but I have a few old ones to my credit ...

Remember one thing: Not all low voters usually like to comment. So if you have 12 comments, all good, they prob are NOT the ones that voted you low. The real ones you are trying to understand will always be a mystery;-)
Actually 4 comments now, one of them dead on accurate.
I'm having fun with my first posting. A co-worker and long time member notified me of the open challenge yesterday and said I had to start up on DPC. Considering I got home at 9 p.m. and had to eat dinner before trying to come up with a shot, I'll be happy with just about anything :)
