Once I took a statistics class that was graded on a curve, ie. the person with the highest score gets an A, the person with the lowest score gets an F. One day there was a test with something of a trick question. Everyone got all bent out of shape and demanded that the trick question not be counted against them. So the professor gave everyone one extra point. They were happy.
I sat in the back of the class giggling because I knew that being graded on a curve, everyone's grade would amount to exactly what it was prior to the extra point.
If everyone's scores reflect a low-voting trend, wouldn't the outcome of ranking the photos still come out the same?

I completely agree with your assessment. I think if everyone was getting 6's and 7's vice 4's and 5's we would see less complaining even though the winners would be getting 8's, 9's and 10's.
Troll police have been out and have done their work - went from 6.4 to 5.5 in 4 votes... Love the variety and creativity of submissions though - well done guys.

Great images guys - what clever people we are! Oh and Yospiff you are a VERY funny man - a well-deserved string of Yappie awards and other such badges of nobility. I am in awe of your enthusiastic dedication!!!!
1st commenter didn't know how it related to the challenge... That's a pretty good indication that I've missed the mark somewhere. Though the element is clearly visible and portrayed creatively, I guess I was meant to point out what the element was in the title? Oh well... I totally understand. Sometimes the obvious goes way over my head too :)
I turned on scores. Other than two more open challenges (have to warn my DPC Olympic teammates) and Free Studies, I be now done with challenges. After three years, more than 250 challenges, I haven't a clue. I can't judge my own work at all.

You're not alone. This is the first one I have entered in a while and;

Judging from your 250+ challenges (or even your last ten), your level of "clueless-ness" is a level of excellence that most DPC folks will never achieve, myself included. Perhaps you just need a short break and let your creative energies re-charge. I think that DPCO tends to make us do challenges we would normally just skip. This takes some of the fun out of taking photos after a while.

I am quite happy with my photo and am curious if any comments provide info on the low score (not holding my breath)

Yeah, I know I shouldn't complain. My last ten don't even meet my average, though, and the fun has gone out of it for me. I just think it best if I move to the sidelines for awhile. I'm always more than happy to comment - if you want to PM me, I'll comment on entries. I'm not voting for awhile anymore either.
