I got my 300D last week, and so far it's great. I bought the Canon EF 28-135mm IS USM, and it is absolutely wonderful!!! I would like a little longer lens, but can't decide on one. I am looking at the 75-300mm IS USM or the 100-300mm USM. Both have good and bad points. Any suggestions?
75-300 is a great lens I do not have the IS model, but I have still gotten decent hand held shots, I am sure a tripod is a good idea also, If I had known about the IS model, I probably would of gotten that one. I am sure you will be happy with either.
I'm currently looking at purchasing the 300D for a vacation. Does anyone have an opinion on the lens that comes with the lens kit? I'm trying to decide whether to just buy the body and a separate wide angle lens or just go with the factory kit. Thoughts?

Personally, I think it would be crazy not to get the kit lens. It is very inexpensive, and you won't be able to get it after should you change your mind. The range is decent (18-55 = 28-88) so it is a good all around lens. Speed is also decent at F3.5-5.6. Image quality is also good.
hey Canon peeps! i'm fairly new to DPc. and got the Digital Rebel a few weeks ago. i love it. i never used the LCD to frame pics on my old camera. not sure why, saving batteries i guess. maybe i'm just old school and was used to cameras that never had lcd's before digitals! hehe.
so my question is about shutter release gadgets.

whats the difference between the remote control and the remote switch? i want something for tripod shots to make sure i dont move the tripod when pressing the shutter. do either of these gadgets do the same thing? i imaging they are the same thing. why choose the switch over the remote then? remote would be better right?

I have the RC-1 Wireless remote which is great for tripod shots. I picked it up at local photo shop for $27. I like this one better than the wireless remote that the camera operating manual recommends because this remote has a little switch that allows you to either have the shot taken immediately when the remote switch it triggered or you can set it to take the shot 2 seconds after the remote is triggered. It also has a really nice little holster that connects your remote to your neck strap.
bought mine about two weeks ago!! this camera is great!! still learning the in's and out's of it, but for what you get pricewise it's a very awesome camera!

Heres a recent
wedding I shot with the Rebel, Canon 28-105mm and the 420ex flash.
I have my Rebel on hold at Futureshop until I receive their credit card thingy in the mail. However, I've been wiating for AGES..initially they told me it'd be 5 business days, now they're saying 10 or more. It's so frustrating when I KNOW it's there, waiting...simply waiting for me to take it home and make it apart of my family :-(
