You gave me the boost when you did this great shot!
There are a number of tricky items in a shot like this:
1. Dogs wandering into the shot
2. Reflections on the table
3. Legs under the table
4. Arms and etc crossing
5. multiple shots with a flash
The dog was quickly become a nuisnace (SP?) when trying to do this :)
Luckily the dog was looking for food crumbs under the table and I did get all of him in the shot.
The reflections on the table and wood grain were tricky also.
My son had the habit of tucking his legs under himself when setting down
so his legs did not show. And it causes the look of trickery because there are no legs under the table in some shots.
I quickly learned how to deal with the crosssing arms and etc.
Multiple flash shots was the hardest of all. The overall contrast and color varied when the subject got closer or further from the flash.
And you could not move the camera.

You didn't tell me you have 4 of them (+you of course), I thought it's only you and 3 brothers. :-) Just improving your cloning skills, we will get more and more clones? I know how you have time to make so many excellent shots! Easy if you can be now in 5 places at the same time! :-))))) Could you please clone a camera for me? :-)

Ok, had to have a go at this. Unfortunately it was windy and I later realised the camera strap was blowing in the wind and moving the camera, and I think that is why Spawn is not as clear as he might have been.
This is actually my worst nightmare, multiple clones of my 9 year old *shudder*
Want to redo this shot again but get it somewhat better, but I was pleased with my first attempt and how east the PS work is to get this.
10 (or whatever) photos, exactly the same other than Spawn in a different position. Opened each in turn and pasted into the one (i.e. each as a new layer).
Created a "hide all" mask for all but one layer.
Simply painted on each mask in turn to reveal Spawn.
Nothing at all flash sorry *laugh* but it worked well enough. I think I have now mastered, well, enough at least, masks. Next time I'll try your method :)
I would LOVE to see a visual tutorial on this cuz even after reading Gary's description..... I,don't even know where to begin! I've never used a mask... don't know how but it sound fun!

When I did mine, I did it the same way but didn't know about 'hide all'...I painted on the mask what I DIDN'T want and that took a bit longer...
