I am surprised there are no jokes bout people taking pictures of what might be floating in ones toilet after a squat! Sometimes this group is naughty but funny! I guess thats why I keep with it!

Oh yes, after the Sound challenge I had the idea about a Smell challenge, but in that time NOBODY second my suggestion! so... I'm glad now that you all seems to be happy working on it:) even it is with another title, the idea is the same, and I'm still thinking is a great and funny challenge....
Unfortunately I won't be able to join the challenge because I don't have time now!:(
scents and aromas
don't they have a postive tint to it?
I don't know... I always thought that the words 'smell' and 'odour' are used for the negative smells but 'scent' and 'aroma' are used for the positive ones...
Can someone enlighten?
I don't think you can say the challenge means just pleasant smells. I personally dislike most perfumes (and expect to see many perfume shots). I agree though that the pictures that depict bad smells will probably not fare as well as "pleasant" ones. What does that mean for the entries that compare both in one picture?

Reminds me of the time I was paid to sample some brand of coffee flavored soda.... It did not taste good and I um.. well, use your imagination. It was not a pretty site... YUCK!
But you're taking part of a sentence out of context when you do that. It says:
capture the concept of "smell" by photographing something that is often associated with an aroma or scent.
If it just said capture the concept of "smell"period I would agree there might be a conflict, but the description clarifies that the type of smell that should be photographed is one that would be considered an aroma or scent (which I agree, is intended to imply "pleasant").
OK, to bring the logic full circle (somewhat abbreviated): Capture "smell" with something associated with aroma or scent --> scent = smell (Flash's post) --> smell = sensation when olfactory receptors stimulated.
The overriding theme seems to me to be smell in general - its the somewhat subjective association of "aroma = pleasant" that's appearantly causing a limited interpretation. On the one hand, it would be pretty sterile if the challenge titles and descriptions had to be scrubbed of all ambiguity; on the other, it would be a shame for an awesome picture of a nasty stink to be voted down because of some preconception that may or may not be implied by the title.

I guess mum's the word for you then, according to Reuters. However, I suspect a large number will never be consumed, but rather will end up as a novelty in the collector's market. That the proceeds were going to chartiy probably inspired many to buy with no intention to drink (or maybe they had been drinking ... something else).
I am submitting a scratch and sniff picture. When you see the picture you should scratch the image on your computer screen with your fingernail and then put your finger to your nose and smell. It will be the scent of the image on the picture.
Jones must be having some quality control issues. If you look at the website link posted a couple of threads up the bottle on the left is clearly underfilled.
What I'm really wondering though is how it would taste over mash potatoes and with a big pad of butter.

I personally don't see anything in the title/description that limits it to pleasant smells but I pulled my entry anyway. Maybe a photo showing an unpleasant aroma will do well but given the overwhelmingly narrow and vanilla audience I just don't see it happening.
