25 second? damn. You can get detail from the moon at 1/80 of a second (full moon) Look at my profile //www.dpchallenge.com/profile.php and you can see some that I took, 2 through a telescope and 1 handheld. They are of the last eclipse on Nov 8, 2003.
Great Eclipse photos! What telephoto adapter you use for your handheld photo?
I used a tripod and my 75-300mm lens. All those shots are cropped from the original. I don't recall the settings but I think the shutter speed was relatively fast, ie. 1/250. The moon gives out a suprisingly large amount of light, especially at full moon. If you shoot the moon with anything slower than 1/30 of a sec, you'll probably get motion blur.
Very nice photos! I noted tht the moon there in north is diferent from here in south. I´ll post my moom shots here to discuss it.

Did anyone notice the difference in crater positioning on two different photos(like Jacko's and timlewis1980's photos)? If you bring them up together you can see the difference. I wonder if that is because of photographers location or the date and time?
If you put them both together, resize and rotate. You can see there does seem to be a VERY slight difference between the two. If you look at the top right and bottom left of the two moons?

That is because the Moon has a slight wobble to its orbit relation to Earth. We actually see a percentage more than 50% because of it. I forget the exact numbers but I think it is between 5 and 10 % more
How could you get these moon with your Sony F717? I tryed but had bad results. Do you use some lens adapter?
I zoomed in at maximum optical zoom, used a tripod, and shot about 1 sec. shutter speeds or so. Once I was relatively happy with the shot, I zoomed in on the image in camera and resized it. Not the best, but OK to look at. My father has an 8" telescope that I've been wanting him to bust out so I can get some nicer shots. I think I'll get an adapter that allows the camera to connect to the eyepiece. We'll see.

Also Scopetronics makes a 2 inch eyepeice that threads directly to the 7x7 camera with NO adapters, however your scope has to be able to accept 2 inch eyepieces.

Thanks jab, his takes 1.25" eyepieces, so I've been considering the MaxView 40. I got some decent photos just holding the camera up to his largest eyepiece. We'll see. Thanks again for the info.
