OOO OOO, you made a teeter toter. Placed the bulb in the socket loosely base on ones side of a board on a pivot. Then you banged the board on the opposite side with the hammer like a see saw and shot the lamp and bulb
into the air. Bulb traveled a little further than the lamp because of the spring. heheheh
hmmm... tricky. I'm guessing that you managed to fit the bulb into the socket with a small spring wedged underneath, then either waited for it to give way, or nudged it to give it some assistance. ???
This is by far the closest...but not quite there yet. HINT - There was a hammer involved!!!!

(that would also explain why hubby was afraid that you'd break the lamp - hitting it too hard with the hammer) ?

No...and No..the hammer did NOT connect with the lamp and the lamp was sitting on the cement ground...the lamp did not move from its spot.
Shez....there was nothing touching the bulb at the time of the capture!!!!
There is an electronic flick thingy in the base of the lamp casing, the bulb rests on top of the lamp. You trigger the electronic flicker by a remote and it hits the lamp launching it up.

That was my guess. Put the bulb in the socket, then twist it back so it's n-e-a-r-l-y ready to come out again, then shake the ground with said hammer...

You throw a hammer at the piece of wood to knock it off releasing it's grip of the bulb.
So basically,
Lamp casing with a piece of wood on top of it, and then the bulb is fit onto the wood. Hammer is thrown to hit the piece of wood as you take the shot of the lamp about to fall to the floor.

The bulb was in the lamp as it would normally be to work, prior to the capture....there was no wood around! LOL!

You used the hammer to set off one of those construction nailguns (used to secure 2x4 framing into the ground) next to the lamp ?
Did you swing the hammer intending to capture the bulb breaking but instead the hammer knocked the bulb loose, bounced out of the shot, and the bulb popped out landing on the concrete?
