Alice, sorry to hear that about your score. :( I know how it feels when a shot you like doesn't live up to scoring expectations. I do have an entry in this LL challenge.

Either next time Im not going to bother entering or Ill just draw a couple black lines on a big white piece of paper to avoid any confusion with the voters ;)

I am normally not one that takes the challenge theme too strict. In fact, I am quite fond of creative interpretations. With this challenge however, I feel that many submissions use the technique of vanishing point rather than that of leading lines. And in a technical challenge, well the least one should get right is the technique, right?
Obviously, I do not know whether this applies to your pic in particular. If you have a creative interpretation of 'leading lines', you have nothing to fear from me.

I would counter this with my belief that all vanishing points are leading lines, but not the other way around. To me, leading lines are compositional elements that lead the viewer through the frame of the photograph, sometimes leading to a main subject, but other times not. Think of a picture of a winding road, with the yellow line helping the viewer take a journey through the image. no main subject (except for the lines themselves), but it certainly leads the viewer. I wouldn't consider this a vanishing point, at least not always. Vanishing points can certainly lead the viewer through the frame, and can sometimes lead to the main subject, but sometimes not. They just happen to be parallel lines that seem to converge at a point.
That's my interpretation of the challenge, and I will vote accordingly. So, for me, vanishing points are considered leading lines.

I agree, someone just game me a very low score with the comment that I have a vanishing point not a leading line! even though the vanishing point leads to what I consiter to be the main subject of the image. All I can say is that this is a site for anal retentives to express themselves with comments and low scores.!
