Perhaps, while you negotiate a payment, you could let slip that if he gets caught doing this with someone's already-registered work, he could be liable for $250,000 in damages per violation. He might want to develop a form letter/contract he can send to photographers whose works he'd like to paint ... there are other artists who do this kind of work. I know of one case here where one member got permission to (re)paint another's image -- as I recall, both parties were thrilled with the result. |
