Well, I love to give to others and therefore I also enjoy when others give:
"WHO GETS A FREE MEMBERSHIP.... " and why.
My sister has long since been a photography fan and has always helped to support me in my photography business (though she claims I copy-catted her passion as older sisters sometimes accuse). In the past 3 years she seems to have hit a big road-block and just can't seem to get ahead. Her fiance left her for the first time in her life she has had to re-evaluate what she wants in life and how to get it, possibly on her own. She has moved into a place all by herself, has gone back to school (into vet tech school), is working 2 jobs to help pay her debt, bills and tuition and struggles to get by. Often times she calls me crying about how lonely she is and how all her hard work just never matters when she doesn't have someone to share it all with.
In the last 3 years, despite all her hard work, she has gone through some scary times with depression and still struggles to find happiness. She is in her last semester of school, is doing so great on her own but still cries. My parents got her a Christmas gift this year - a new Canon camera that she has been wanting. She always smiles at my work but I can tell she wants to get back into photography... but she just never has the time or money. She was so excited this Christmas - even at 31 years old she looked like a young child tearing through gifts. I was over joyed to think perhaps we could go shooting together and help to go "out" but to not spend money... to photograph the world together.
Its been a whole month since Christmas and she simply complains that she doesn't have the time to get out. I'm getting married and moving away this Spring and though she is happy for me - I can tell she is avoiding me because my happiness reminds her how lonely she is. I hate that my own sister can't be happy and there isn't much I can do. I simply hope the best.... Perhaps a membership to DPC could allow her the boost she needs to get out there and exercise her passion again. Maybe meeting some new friends as I have done here and getting that boost of confidence from other great talents would lift her up.
I know its a maybe, but maybe?

Well, I don't know why Prof_Fate's icon is gray - he's certainly not new, but he's very knowledgeable and helpful, especially over in the Hardware/Software section of DPC.
