Well always the one to be different, I actualy think it would be nice to darken the image overall. The sky is a washy dark grey with orange hues, so perhaps blacking it slighly will automaticaly bring the building up.
Also the sea/water is another area I would bring out more, as opposed to concentrating on the building.
that's really great jon! - i have no idea how you did the light like that with the accompanying "glare marks" - but its awesome. I hope to get your skills someday.
Your crop idea works well too - thanks very much for taking the time to do that! I really enjoyed seeing other interpretations of one of my shots.
thats what I was thinking, if I had the original image I would have been a bit careful to retain the dark sky and stay away from the yukkers in the sky, but twas going with what it seemed he most wanted to lear, hence we pointed him in the direction of some tools to not make global changes but selective and suttle changes to avoid the nasty sky hues, was in the back of my head LOL like what you did to that image as well :) ahhh a million different ways to obtain the same objective LOL ya gotta love photoshop :P LOL
Here's another attempt: I tried something similar to what GenE did, but using screened layers, after selecting just the shadow regions, but quickly found that the shadows were a blocky mess due to JPEG artefacts.
So I tried a different approach, selecting the highlights and feathering those, then inverting it (so I was working on everything but the highlights) and used the lighting effects render option to add some more realistic light to the shadows and midranges, then added a lens flare for the spot light, just for good measure.
It took me 5 minutes to touch up the photo, and it's been about an hour that I've been trying to post it.
I did read 'forum code how-to'---didn't help.

Here's the text link. If you want to post the thumbnail in the forum, right-click on the thumbnail (Windows) and go to properties. Copy the image URL from there (will have .jpg at/near the end) and paste that within the image tags.

You're using the buttons "backwards."
The URL that looks like this:
dpchallenge.com/image.php?IMAGE_ID=40476
goes with the "URL" tags. The one which ends in ".jpg" goes with the "image" tags. Edit the previous posts and see how I changed the links.

i find that its just easiest to post a link back to your portfolio as opposed to trying to put the picture in the thread (and from what i hear it also helps out people with dial up modems load through faster)
just copy and past the whole url of the individual page of the picture you want and put it in the thread - check the "automatically parse URL box - and your cookin' with gas then :)

Good advice. If you want people to see it in the posting, use the thumbnail and not the full-sized image.
