we didnt have the ice here in NWFL quite yet (its here now unbelievably),so i shoe'd one in,probably shouldnt have as it is tanking titanically!!! i think i hear violins...lol

Snow being made up of Ice crystals? This is the type of thing that drives me crazy...

I'm afraid I must have missed this in chemistry class. Wiki says this about snow, "Snow is a type of precipitation in the form of crystalline water ice, consisting of a multitude of snowflakes that fall from clouds. Since snow is composed of small ice particles, it is a granular material. It has an open and therefore soft structure, unless packed by external pressure."
How does snow not count when the description reads merely "Ice"? It's time to loosen up your DNMC criteria.
And, yes, my entry has both snow and ice, but I'm not worried about my entry at the moment, I'm just fighting against the narrow definition of the challenge.

I am really learning a lot from have absolutely 0 comments. With that said, I didn't think I'd do very well with the shot since it was so last minute and ice is only found in freezers where I live.
Was almost at a 5.0 yesterday, and dropped this much. I am starting to get a little discouraged... I am going to go finish my votes now...Ive seen some great shots so far!

I can never guess it either. I thought my texture entry would do a mid 5 at best and I got a solid 6. My perspective entry that I thought was awesome ended as a low 5, so I ain't got it figured out either.

Well, this should make everyone feel better. I also got a validation request. I'm not sure why but I did nothing wrong. Not a good week for me. Good luck to all. :)
If I keep up the pace I'm at now I might make it to 4. Got 3 comments and I see that there is a lack of clarity about the ice in my shot. It was in the freezer before I took it out and was melting as I was shooting it. My guess is that it is ice. I might be mistaken but I think I was there when I took the shot. Good thing I didn't use coconut oil and try to pass it off as ice.
It's moving very slow up to a 5.0, if I am lucky...this shot is better than my previous challenge entries, and those scored higher. I wish I could get some comments.
