well looks like u have the blue ribbon. This could possibly be the worst challenge quality wise DPC has ever ever seen. Truely terrible! :-(
Arrogant much? You just did a smashing good job at insulting everyone who entered. There was a challenge recently where the top 10 went to a shot that scored under 6. Should the photographer take that to mean the shot wasn't so great?
Or maybe it's just that it's a tough concept to convey, and the point is to the best among the entries, not meet your personal definition of "quality?"

yeah sorry about that. Just my opinion. I just had higher hopes.. thats all.

Seriously though, Alex does have a point, the entries are/were very weak and currently, to a new visitor to the site, the entries on the frontpage are not earth-shattering amazing (stopped motion aside), I get the feeling that with the "alone" entries and the "drew" shots, we will have another week of so-so images gracing the frontpage.. I will admit voting was quite easy though, just sitting there hitting 5 and sometimes the occasional 6.

I'm delighted to see different kinds of shots winning. Yes, that means the Ribbon Hog style shot isn't on the front page as much. But that doesn't equate to "low quality." What you think is good is just your opinion, not some absolute truth.
Another thing to consider is that some people are thrilled about scores in the low 6s (at least two are trying for their first 6+ score in the free study scores thread). So to declare that entries are low quality just comes off as arrogant and mean-spirited.

Umm....
Then there's this:
Now please tell me what this would do in a challenge today.
I'll grant you that some of the recent offerings have been less than spectacular, but you guys who have been here a while and who have notably more experience both here and in the outside world are probably starting to get pretty jaded.
Hey, here's another thing.....what's the first thing anyone who's been here for a couple of days thinks if he/she is voting in a challenge and up pops a majestic buck in the mist/sunrise/fog/sunset? Hey, there's Alex!
It must be nice to live by Richmond Park, or in Iceland (Jury's still out on that one! BRRRRRR!!!!!), and that's one heck of a nice thing for anyone who has that kind of advantage.......Golden Gate Bridge, Grand Canyon, Hawaii, Alps....
Some people will never see anything like that in their entire lives. We do what we can.
I got a profile page with three 6.6+ scores in the middle of dull old Pennsylvania.....I'll take it!
Oh, BTW Alex.....why don't you comment on these entries and make constructive, helpful comments on what would work to make the entries better?
I got five critical comments on my FS entry, and the people all took a minute and gave me a good analysis and made suggestions as to what didn't work......four of the five people with history here such as yourself.
