It is unfortunate that the DPC forum doesn't have a user-selectable preference option to suppress signatures. I can't stand them.
Luckily, The Proxomitron makes it easy to add "features" like this.
If you use The Proxomitron (which is free) to block ads, pop-ups, cookies, web bugs, etc., copy and paste the following into a file, and then choose "File > Merge config filters" and choose the file where you saved the following:
Name = "Remove: DPC forum signatures"
Active = TRUE
URL = "*.dpchallenge.com/forum.php"
Limit = 2048
Match = "
*
"
Replace = "
"
If you want to use Proxomitron, I highly suggest starting withJD5000's Proxo configs (the Basic config file works well "to get you going").
If you notice this filter doing anything "strange" (I haven't yet), let me know and I'll fix it up.

I could be wrong, but I think that at least 50% of my original message WAS praise. I do think that faidoi's decision to have a POTD is a good idea.
Besides, I wasn't griping so much as making a comment about something that I thought could be better. Your post sounds more "gripe-y" to me, IMO.

Gordon~The photo didn't do anything for me either, but if you look at the other POTD's you will see I have commented on the photos. And you will notice that only a few have commented on them.
Do you like the colours ?
Does the blue and beer colours work well together, in harmony, or as a strong contrast ?
Does the white foam on the beer work well with the clouds ?
What do you think about the angle it was shot from ?
Does it strengthen the shot ?
Do you like how it looms up into the frame ?
Is this use of perspective something that you've tried before ?
Would you ?
How about the use of lines ?
The horizon and the rails and table and the various shadows ?
Do you think that makes it more interesting ?
How about where the horizon line intersects with the glass ?
Do you think this placement is deliberate ?
Does it work, deliberate or not ?
Does the tree in the corner frame the subject or drag your eye away ?
Some questions this picture provoked in my mind:

I think the table line and the horizon line distract from the photo for me. I think that is the first thing I looked at.
The glass is well in focus and the drink looks delish, but the photo itself just doesn't do anything for me.
It doesn't do much for me either. It's a well executed photo and I like all the compositional elements of it. It could work well as a product shot for a beer ad, but I don't see it hanging.
I find "zeus top pick of the challenge" initiative interesting and enriching because he is articulate and passionate about his choices. I don't see what added value so far this "pic of the day" forum has over my casual "nosing around the site". Faidoi, there must be something that moves you about this rather plain and unemotional still life your suggesting us to comment on today; reading about it would be far more interesting than the picture itself, as far as I am concerned.
Just had a look at Lars's portfolio, just makes me wonder what made you select this image and not another given the choice of fine images you had at hand.

Did anyone even notice that the comments were made on the photographers' site. I think it's more helpful for the comments to be posted with the picture and not here in the forums.
Hey Faidoi, caught your other thread and really hope you reconsider. I love the POD idea and don't wanna see it end. That's one of the reasons I kept bumping the thread back to the top.
I would keep it up myself but I don't have the time resources right now and sorting through pics sucks on dial up...
