Same... even having advanced rules is a little much for my liking because of how big a difference can be made between original capture and the pp finish. But i'd rather have that since it still looks like a photograph in the end unlike some of the expert entries that were entered.

Are you saying you would rather have minimal editing free studies? I mean with just a bit of levels/curves adjustment and hue/saturation you can turn a fairly drab image into an image with some "pop" How far is too far then?
Now would be a good time to stop coddling the minimal-editing-only whiners. Make the Free Study free! No restrictions on post-processing! Excellent photography stands out no matter what is done to it or with it after capture. Period. That's my story & I'm sticking to it!

Only con I can think of is people accidentally submitting to the wrong Free Study but this happens from time to time as it is so I don't think it's a great burden to place on the contestants.

I think they'd have to be "exclusive" challenges, so you can only enter under one rule set.
Actually, it would take up a lot of room on the front page, especially when the results are posted.
I think this is an excellent idea. I like the idea that it is exclusive and the entries would be spread out over 4 challenges making voting easier, there would be no need to vote on 500+ images, as you could vote on 1 or more free studies as you see fit.
As there are also a wide variety of PP tastes it would also cater for all of them.
99% of the people who oppose would be those who like to do little post processing and prefer the documentary style.
99% of the people who are in favor would be those who like to do lots of post processing and prefer a visionary style.
I doubt it. IMO it's not so much about how much post processing you like to do, but your perception of what DPC represents. Larus and I are against it... and each of our personal best scores were in Expert challenges!

Funny when I look at both of your profiles I don't see an expert edited shot any where. Correct me if I'm wrong but both of the shots you're referring to could have easily been entered in advance or even basic editing challenges. In other words you guys didn't even use the new rule set, let alone use it in the manner in which it has come under fire. I'd hardly call either of you guys the exception rather you both fit the profile of someone who is opposed perfectly. I would have assumed you were both opposed before you mentioned it. Not that it matters. The point is everyone here is merely pushing their own interests. Nothing more.
