I also hate it that there are trolls and that all too many people don't comment.....but after ranting in about a dozen threads about the same thing, I think I'm mostly done with my whining now.
I think the site should implement "Quick Comments" A set of comments that people can click on to automatically have them inserted in their vote. Use little "radio" buttons (I think that is what they were called in my HTML class) but anyway let people choose as many of them as they like so instead of typing they click on "Too noisey," vote it a 3 and move to the next picture with minimal effort. If you want to leave a more personal comment then you can still type one....

Radio buttons won't allow for using more than one pre-assigned comment. You want 'checkboxes'. That way we can check all that apply.
"Your picture sucks."
"Your picture really sucks!"
"Sell your camera and take up _______________ (with list of options)."
"While technically good, your picture has no effect on me, good or bad."
See, need options. ;) (joking.. but only about the options. It is checkboxes that you are looking for)
Yes, Checkboxes also work. I have seen in my HTML classes though where people didn't program the radio buttons properly and we could clikc as many of them as we wanted so if it can be done by mistake I am sure by design as well.
But the point remains checkboxes like that could really give someone insight as to why people aren't voting their images higher....

Considering that some people can't be bothered to tick off a box that says a comment was useful, I seriously doubt they would be inclined to take the time to pick out one of many boxes to tell you an image is good or bad.
Similarly, the "added value" of such a comment would be of little value to me personally, as it would have little bearing on the specifics of the image that I would need to address.

It's been a couple of years since I've done web development, but last I knew, radiobuttons only allowed one selection.
Here. Plug this into the "Tryit Editor" on w3schools.com.
On the surface it looks correct, but underneath the code treats each radiobutton individually, so you can't say "Color" is blue or red or, etc...
Sorry for the diversion folks. Back to your regularly scheduled program. :)
I completely missed this thread. Ben if you happen to read this I'm sorry to see you go man, I've had a blast with you and thanks for everything you did for me and our original team. Feel free to contact me any time you want I'd like to know what you've been up too lately.
Did someone delete 70% of this thread??? I posed something there last week and now it's gone... Nothing I said was bad so there was no reason for it to be deleted...

Hmm, I remember this thread being brought back to life myself, but can't remember what was discussed.

I just said good bye to a good friend that I made here on DPC. I didn't know he left and I just left a message saying bye and if he happens to see it to drop me a line.
this thread is over two years ago, and BHuseman hasn't even logged in for the past month. This thread is being closed as there is no reason to ressurrect it. And "70%" was not hidden, just one post, which I have unhidden.
