So, I made a short film out of some timelapsing on Saturday. Using an intervalometer (Canon TC-80N3) and my 30D, i shot over 1000frames and spliced them together in Quicktime and Finalcut. Check it out.

Has anyone else experimented with timelapse on their Digital Cameras? If so feel free to share them.
In Quicktime Pro, you can simply open an image sequence and export it to what ever video format you like, the process is relatively quick. I editted together in FinalCut Pro though... All up about 4 hours out shooting and couple of hours arranging it on the computer.
Quicktime has some rather invasive behavior. When it wnats to update itself, it repeatedly insistently asks if you want to install iTunes as well. So you're stuck either repeatedly telling it "NO!" or not allowing it to look for updates. That's one thing.
I still do have Quicktime installed, but it has earned a black mark from me for its behavior.
I loved the compositions in your timelapse. Nice water reflections and the rivlets of sand and water in one were wonderful. Time lapse really makes clouds a really important part of the composition in landscapes. How did you do the panning and zooming I saw? Nice work.
The slow zoom is a post effect, simply a small change in size, done in Finalcut. Using a dSLR over a video camera has its advantages, the output can be extremely high res to allow for effects in the editting process, like the zooming and panning, or output to HD television.

I have never observed this and am trying to imagine what life would be like without QT installed.
Really nice, I love time lapses. I want to start doing some more of them as soon as I can afford the equipment for it. I think a 10D would be the best choice, since it accepts the timer remote and it's fairly cheap so blowing out the shutter wouldn't be the end of the world. 6MP is more than enough res for video too.
zaflabout: You might have to time it manually, or connect it to a computer and use the Nikon utility if it has the capacity to set off the camera at intervals.
Simon That was very cool. I love the way you got the clouds, nice choice of music too. Only small prob is the drums kicking in right at the end of the film. Great work. Well done :)
I really like the bit about 1/2 way through with the rock on the right and the clouds going out. Fantastic. That composition would make a great photo as well.
