is it just me or does it seem like in this challenge there are more than the usual shots that dont even pretend to try to relate to the challenge? this was extremely frustrating voting for me....

I understand your comment - but the challenge is not "Why?" the challenge is "Why". I think many photogs interpreted this as a challenge that either can ask the question why or answer the question why...
