That is funny -- I don't suppose you went to O.U., too? hehe
I just hired a person onto my development team. After chatting her up during lunch one day, it turns out she ran a parallel path to my wife, and just down the road from each other -- they both moved to Toledo when they were 4, grew up in the same part of town (South Toledo / Maumee), graduated in '87 (neighboring high schools), and then moved away. Even funnier is she looks just like one of my wife's best friends from then.
Sounds like ya got some spooky kismet going on there lol. So the new hire and your wife don't know each other then?
Woulda been funny if I did go to OU but I graduated from UC. No schools out of town would take me lol.
At least if there were 10 of us that gtg in Cleveland, anyone who tried to rob 10 people with cameras would be pretty stupid, so no worries there. Here is one of my fav pics of cleveland....
Nice pic of the hall of fame! Next time I am in downtown Cleveland, I will look for your gang of Paparazzi 10. lol

I can't take credit for that pic!! That is metatate picture. I love the shot though, cause its so rare to get sun in Northeast Ohio, so when we got it you would be surprised how many people are actually in the city that come out of the wood work. I am a pretty built guy, but I'll be damned if I walk alone in Cleveland alone ever again. Unless I got my DPC'ers with their canon and nikon pieces!! lol
OK - SO it sounds like a handful of people woudlnt mind doing a trip to Hocking Hills. I know that Aimee and I would love to go back without kids and take some time to shoot. I am not exactly sure where it is in relation to everyone else. Check out this link if you arent familiar with the place - Hocking Hills. If there seems to be a general consensus and willingness for this then the next step would be working on a date.
The weekend of May 5/6 is out for me as I am preaching a sermon that weekend. May 12/13 might not be good because of Mothers Day. And we are also out of town May 26/27, June 3/4. I think Memorial Day Weekend is in there somewhere too.
Good Saturdays for us -
May 19
June 9, 16 and 23
This is all just an option. I am open to other ideas but I also know that photo opportunites are huge in Hocking hills. If people were interested we could also plan a potluck picnic to make the trip even more worth while. I am not sure what kind of restaurants are in the area, but I do know I make a mean smoked brisket and would be willing to bring that down with us.
May 19 is out for me (I'll be shooting Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger that day, not to add to the anti-Cleveland comments :)... but June 9 looks very good!

I am sure that there are many anti-Steelers fans out there who will be happy that you are shooting him. :D
Now, speaking in terms of photography, what are you doing the shoot for? Sounds like it will be interesting!

Although being a Browns fan does hurt, I am a huge fan, so if you shoot Big Ben I won't cry. I just can't wait till the Browns get Bill Cowher next year. LOL...in my dreams... Tim I am good any time after May 1rst. Leavin for VIVA LAS VEGAS in a week, be gone till then.
There is nothing nice about Cleveland, the city, the teams, the lake, it all sucks there. Cleveland just needs to fall into Lake Erie and take the Browns, Cavs, and Indians with it!!
I don't care much about the teams, but we live in NE Ohio and I think there is much to be said about it! We live in Ashtabula County at the far NE corner, and we have the Lake, wineries, 16 covered bridges, county fairs, century barns and all-around country beauty.
I'm interested if anyone wants to get together out this way...let me know.
Well, after nearly killing himself on a motorcycle last year, who knows -- maybe he'll manage to shoot himself this year? Let's hope not...
Anyway... Ben is an honorary spokesperson for an anti-drug group in Pittsburgh, and the last couple years they've held a poster contest for 7th graders at area schools. The winners of the contest get their photos taken with him at a big event in May... and I'm the photographer for it. Here's one from last year:

Hmm...well I live 30 minutes from Hocking Hills in Lancaster. I went with a couple guys from fredmiranda.com last year and it went pretty well. We went during peak colors though in the fall. Some of my pics from that can be found in my gallery at www.endeavorphoto.com
June 9th I'll be in NYC with my high school broadcasting class(8th,9th,10th) so if we could do it the 16th or 23rd that would be awesome! I might be able to show you guys around to some of the good spots we were in last year around the lake too. Sunrise there is pretty nice. Let me know if the 16th or 23rd could work for everyone because I really want to go but I already paid for my NYC trip. Thanks!
Thats awesome alanfreed, Ben always seemed to want to do a lot with the community. Thats pretty sweet that you get those shots, any other steelers there? Really like the pics also JaredWickerham.
Hey, thanks "JawnyRico", I appreciate it. Hey, if we could set a date soon, that would be great. How does the 16th or the 23rd of June sound to everyone? The 9th I'll be in NYC and this is something that will really benefit me if I could go. I could also show you guys around, the good spots to shoot, etc. So should we take a vote?

I lived off Sheridan Dr. back in the early '90s. :) Lancaster was our first "home town" after graduating from O.U. and getting married -- I got a job in Columbus while my wife finished her Masters studies at O.U. -- so I have fond memories of it.
Anyway, let me restate my vote for May 19th! I'll be coming to Athens (from Wash DC) for an alumni weekend, and the rest of my friends will be playing golf on Saturday morning/early-afternoon, and I don't play, so I won't have anything else to do. I was going to traipse around Athens and shoot, but I've done that before and I'd love to see Hocking Hills instead.

Alan - that looks like it would be a fun photo shoot. It's always good to see celebs kind of giving back to the community. Have a good time!

There are many great photo opportunities in Downtown Cleveland, too. Every large city has less safe neighborhoods. There is a lot in the surrounding Emerald Necklace MetroParks for nature shots and some imitation beaches to the far east and west suburbs of CLE.
I took many photos of the extra-long Harpersville Rd. covered bridge during last years' Covered Bridge Festival and enjoyed the wineries nearby (Northeastrn OH).
We also stayed March 17th of last year at a very interesting/amazing Hotel near Hocking Hills State Park. They had 1/2 price rooms with heated floor tiles in the bathrooms/suites. It's called Landoll's Castle. It might seem like June 16 is available for the most responders. I took many photos of the "Castle" and it's details.
I also took many shots near and of the Dover Dam, located just south of the city of Zoar.
Creature, just wondering if you have a photo website elsewhere, I noticed you haven't entered any challenges or have any in your portfolio. I looked at you gallery, JaredWickerham, some nice shots among them all.
I'm interested, since I haven't shot any photos in the H.H.State Park or have seen the Col. Zoo either. I think the best time is when the trees get their leaves.

Mostly just an issue of time ... I just finished an MBA in January and then went straight to working 12-14 hour days at work, so even my weekends have been too busy with homework or to-do lists to find the time to make a challenge entry. That should end around the first week in June, and then I'll probably get into this more, but I just haven't had the time (and, arguably, the skills) in the year+ since I joined here. That's why I would be so excited to see the GTG happen when I'll be there in May, since I've been chomping at the bit for so long.
Thanks for asking, though. Questions/comments like that spur me to try harder to make time for my hobby. I'm shooting a wedding (paid, but barely) in a couple weeks and my daughter's school wants me to shoot some events for them, so hopefully things will get back in gear quickly here!
well me and alan can go those 3 dates in june if u guys can...
June 16th or 23rd
i have a birthday the 19th of may and a NYC trip the 9th of june...maybe we could even do two sets of groups? i know it's not as much fun but there's no way everyone will be able to go on the same day. let me know what you guys think. thanks for the comments on my site ( www.endeavorphoto.com ) guys! i appreciate it!
Hopefully he doesn't pick June 8,9,10 for my sake since I'll be in NYC. I understand not everyone's gonna get to go but we should really figure it out soon so we can plan around it, call off work, etc.
