I'm not a member, so I can't hit every second the update button, but I'm so obsessive about the result of this challenge that here's what I do:
on my profile page the statistics on votes and comments are updated real time, so I check almost every minute if my average score changed, and... it does! it keeps growing of a bunch of 0.0001 at a time and I am enchanted watching it!

Way to go Anna...There is something l;ovely about getting both a growing score and a PB, keeping my fingers crossed for you (though I am increasingly thinking that I may have to adopt Melethia's attitude re score checking as I am verging on obsessive compulsive behaviour
Great work, Jon! And when you get to over 100 challenges, the obsession to check scores does die down a bit. :-) Now the obsession to shoot for and enter challenges - that pretty much stays constant....

I do believe that if you take the time to review the Challenge Archives you might discover that most of the winning images fall within the latter of the catergories you allude to.
If your image is not doing as well as you had hoped, it could be that although you did indeed conduct a carefully considered study of the subject matter, your presentation was not strong enough.
If indeed this is the last time you are posting something like this last submission, then you are doing yourself a disservice, since you may never know the joy of having the public at large appreciate your art.
hello nobody heard abobeut NORMAN ROCKWELL because if you did you would give my photo a better score
I know of Rockwell and know of only a limited number of his art that contains bicycles. To be honest, I have yet to see any image on the current challenge that is remotely close to the Rockwell genre.
I will let you know by the time I complete my third pass.
4.9ish. Then again, my actual involvement with bicycles these days is pretty minimal, so I can't say I put my heart and soul into this one and the score's pretty fair for the effort. Besides, now I will be delighted if I see a 5 in my next challenge!
