Look around the world toothpick are not the normal anymore.
Real women are beautiful, with their personal flaws and beauty marks and yet I saw only a few photos that showed that. But as I looked through the entries although I did score most of them realatively high I did find there was a lack of presenting an average woman. From working in women's fashions for several years the average woman is between a size 12 and 18 not a size 5 or 7, I still wonder why only a few of the average sized women were represented.
Well my wife is tiny and I like her the way she is. I don't think chubby = natural. All kinds of shapes and sizes out there. I personally don't like to see nudes of chubby people.
Okay so that is the average, but that doesnt mean thin people dont have a personality, flaws, or anything. Why are they not real just because they try to look their best? They are just as human as other people. There is no difference except in their appearence. I find your comments quite insulting.
IMHO ...there's not a lot of good pics this week....the ones that are ...are great. It has nothing to do with size ect...it's about being good light, compostion ect. BUT subject does matter...and people want something pleasing to the eye.
I think thin is fine...a little chunky is ok...but beyond that...isn't pleasing to most viewers. However, to each their own. IF you submit a photo for a challenge and get 99% of the votes below 5...then maybe it's the photo and not the voters??? Don't whine...learn from that photo and go back and do what it takes to make it better:)

But if anyone is put out by someone not giving their shots great marks because they are using "real" or "average" models, then I think thats unfortunate; please realize people generally mark better for more asthetically pleasing subjects, bottom line. Sorry.

Sorry Perdro, I am not sure if you get my point. What I'm saying is that what most people find appealing is going to do better than what most find unappealing asthetically; combine that with great lighting and composition and you have a great images. It is true, when it comes to body shapes, our likes and dislikes are probably molded to some degree by the media; it's sad but overly skinny and obese are outside those beauty boundaries.
I was in such a quandery trying to decide which photo to submit for this. I was so excited to have a 7.2 ... but have since dropped to a 6.4 :( Oh well.. My goal is to get critiques and stay above a 6.. so here is hoping.
if this finishes below 6 then it will be my final entry here.....

I love it.... I am stunned at the scoring at this point.... and a little frustrated......
I am a little frustrated too... but look at it this way:
Most of your scores (at quick glance) are above 6.0 which means you are above average photographer. Sometimes when a photograph means alot to ourselves, it is hard to see it might not have general appeal.
You shouldn't take the scoring to seriously here. May be your taste in not everybody's taste? And by the way, the majority isn't always necessarily right! ;o)
So try to relax :)

I'm also frustrated about the score. All the comments I've received are positive about the picture, and I would like to know from those that score it low.
@Toddh - I didnt enter this week because several shots lately have bombed in the "I'm no longer learning anything from you people except what the definition of is is" way. I may enter temp, or round, but not sure...
I agree Mav. That is the frustrating part. It is all about definition - and falling away from photography. This is a general statement, I know. I also know about the subjectivity, personal taste, yada yada. What I am saying is the *accent* seems more on definition.
Mav, mine have gone the same way..... won't enter from here on unless it's right on topic and a show-stopper.... if I want to experiment then I'd rather post it here in the forums and get opinions that way.
After the last couple of challenges I given up worrying about the score, if I wasn't happy with the picture I wouldn't post it. I find I learn more from other peoples entries.
Usually you'll get one or two comments that make it worth while, I've got one for the nude challenge from someone who can see past the flaws and recognise part of what I was trying to capture. The final score will soon be forgotten but the comment won't, thanks shareinnc.
The "average woman" in the United States is larger than the "average woman" in, for example, Britain.
I've lived both places long enough to know this.

I couldn't agree more. After living in Europe for the past five years and moving back home I was a bit shocked by the obesity I was seeing in both men and women. Viva la McDonalds! That said I am not going to base my votes on how the model looks in the photo but how the photo looks in general.
