Sivestro, this has been a great communication of ideas, with photography the winner.
Just a point of interest, my image has 2 light sources, opening at 5.0 up to 5.6, and has slipped to 5.2, so it comes back to the masses as to how each photo is seen regarding the challenge.
Gosh ! after a huge initial thrashing whn my vote was 4.1 at 22 votes it has climbed up to a little more respectable figure. With two nice comments a sa bonus- huh some respite at last ( or is it too early !!)

do people here try to knock other's photos in challenges they entered too? my first few hours of votes had me barely pushing 5 but has been climbing since. it's like everyone that entered feels like they must quickly go through everyone else's images and rate them low in order to boost themselves as soon as voting opens. same thing happened with my last entry. oh well...
First night voters do seem a little low normally, but I don't think its people running around bashing all of the shots that compete with theirs. Personally, I judge every challenge the same whether I've entered or not. Its not about how their scores will affect MY image - its about THEIR image.
Well I'm pretty new to this and I received my first DNMC comment, though I used 4 light sources, it is pretty frustrating. I viewed the persons profile who made this comment and they were newer to this than I am, with only 4 challenges entered and a whopping 14 comments made.
Personally I've never used the DNMC comment though I have seen some cases that I thought it was obvious, but without knowing exactly what the photographer did, I couldn't make that comment.

There'll be plenty more to come ;) Looking at your profile, there are some really nice shots there. Don't let one DNMC distract you or you'll go bananas by the end of the year.
Having just gone through and voted on this challenge, there are some shots that obviously don't use multiple light sources, some that really take advantage of them, and some that... well... have multiple lights but don't really use them the way others do.

Don't let it get to you. Voting is almost entirely subjective and some people totally lack imagination, so don't take them too serious. I also see the challenge topics as open for interpretation. Well unless it is a challenge like Ducky or a technique challenge like Bokeh or Soft Focus.
