btw ... I am shooting at ISO 80 and 4 sec exposures ... is that a bad thing ?
Thank you! That one was shot at 1/100th of a second; the later ones are at a slower speed, and it shows as there is far less definition. If I was doing it again I would bump up the film speed to 800 for the shots where the moon is in full shadow.
Yea, I had practised a few shots on the full moon earlier on. Lovely and sharp at 1/125 and f8 (ISO100) - Of course, when the moon was in full shadow it was a different matter. Shutter speed down to 3 seconds, ISO800...
What I don't understand ... I have never noticed it in series of lunar eclipse posts before ... is how the shadow came in from the bottom and is exiting out on the right as I shoot now ...

Yea, I noticed that as well. I reckon the relative positions of the earth and the moon meant the shadow didn't move in a straight line across the moon, but kind of curved up and to the right.
I ended up coming in about 10 minutes before totality was finished. Ended up getting freaked out being alone in the dark for a couple of hours, and it didn't help that there was a cat somewhere doing its best to freak me out. :P
