Really? I figured this challenge was right up your alley...
Actually it is! But I was short of time, had an idea that didn't work out the way I wanted it (back to the drawingboard on that one because it did look promising but not good enough)
anyway, I'm off to vote today and while I was looking through the thumbs I noticed a LOT of DNMC's. Just to let those people know what low key is I'm going ot post in my comment a link on an explanation of low key, and give them a low score. Sorry if this seems arrogant or harsh but it's so annoying to have to go through 357 photo's when half of them DNMC :(
OMG
I woke up this morning and found my score still hanging in the 6s. WOW This will be my first 6 if my photo hangs in there. I sure hope I haven't jinxed myself.
Gee, I didnt think my photo was THIS horrible, well at least the general is keeping me company. Although its not really the score I was looking for. Ok everyone give tens to my photo to improve this ok?

Thanks for the link you posted in your comment Tanja. However I think my image DOES meet the challenge, one of the Wikipedia description of low light is:
"For dramatic effects, one may wish the contrast to be high — to emphasize the brightness of the sun"
You seem to think that the low light can only be effective with 3 way artificial light?
DNMC. I have my monitor calibrated ok I think. It's a tricky image. If you boost the monitor brightness all the way up to %100 I agree it might not work as well but is that what folks are doing to compensate for some of the really darker images? not fair :P
Low key is not an underexposed photo.
Low key is not an overexposed photo with Brightness scaled down with editing.
Low key is not silhouette.
Low key is not a foreground subject that is solely light by a single light source to separate it from a dark background.
Low key should allow a gradual and smooth change between highly light and dark areas.
Low key should merge the background with the foreground to create the meaning of the frame.
Low key needs a good understanding of light metering and use.
It is not easy to create a photo in low key.
Oh … Low key is not taking another photo of the cat, dog and horse.

I quit
why can't low key be a photo of whatever the hell I want? who are you to tell someone what they can't photograph. you are a voter. if you don't like it then vote low (which we all know you love to do) but don't grandstand and tell people what they can't photograph. since you quit i guess i won't expect a response either.

I am a low key person; and maybe you would and maybe you won't, hear from me that is.
It would be ashame for you to quit THadi because you really have some fantastic photos. The purpose of this site in my opinion is for people to show off their photos and to learn from others. If that means taking photos of the same thing that is okay. That just means they are comfortable in that area or they are honing their skills. I find that most of the out-of-the-box shots don't usually do well. I like them but most don't it seems. I know I have thought of quitting myself but I am addicted to this site and I love taking photos. So I keep plugging away no matter how low my score gets.
