got really surprised, for the first time, got a lots of comments...now i learned my lesson here, if you want to get the attention of voters...submit a more intriguing or bolder image...but expect some violents reactions...well, im ready for it..i know i'm goin' to recvd more 1's than dr jones "yellow bikini".
as of today out of 16 comments from 133 voters my score is 5.5 and i knw it will drop.
im just happy with my submission, the voters will like it or not.
hey now, a 5.5 isn't too shabby you know! It's great to receive lots of comments. I tried to submit a very funny and interesting photos to the current two challenges. I'm getting decent scores, but not getting the amount of comments that I thought I would receive.
Seems like a lot of pics hover around 5 points. I'm keen to see the end results and what score the winner will get.
As for comments I believe there will be more over time. People perhaps first vote and then, if they have time, come back and comment. At least that's my way of doing it ;o)
I think the votes vs comments debate is always going to yield some controversial results. There are a lot of people out there who hope to get high ratings and, judging by some of the past averages - even for winners - people are tending to vote low.
Self-portraits are even more contentious because these are a projection of people's own personalities being judged. If you get a low score it's possibly for a number of reasons: off-brief for the challenge; unengaging; too similar to others; unoriginal; unsightly; technically poor, or just plain boring! It's best to examine your shot from an emotive and technical angle to see if there's a reason for low votes.
From my perspective I'm sure that I would get higher votes if my face wasn't in the shot!! Actually, for what it's worth I think all scoring and comments should be hidden from view until the end of the challenge. This would prevent some biased or 'tactical' voting. What do you think?
Man this is depressing.......but then I think of all the pretty people and it reminds me of the old Trooper song, 3 Dressed Up As A 9 - Lyrics. If you're not Canadian and over 30, chances are you never heard it. But in any case, I think it should be the official theme song of this challenge. lol....I'm gonna go sulk some more. I really can't understand why anyone would be depressed by the scores he/she receives? It may be due to the composition of your photo, and not necessarily have something to do with the face on it! And it may have to do with people already knowing each other here. Or (wo)men giving other (wo)men bad points just out of principle or what the heck do I know ...
Jeez, just relax and don't take everything too personal :)
It's supposed to be fun. And you should have enough self-esteem to weather some critics ;)
