All I can say is that I have both a PC and a Mac on my desk.
Which one does what I want it to, easily and without needing updated drivers/restarting everytime I connect or install something new? That's right, the Mac.

Why is it everytime someone starts a PC or Canon thread someone always has to chime in a say "Buy a Mac" or "Buy a Nikon". It also works the other way around so I am not being biased. Can't we just answer the question and all the PC haters skip it. Dammit
That is the beauty of this world we all have a choice of what to buy. If not everything would be very expensive and if someone chooses to buy a PC why do Mac users have to bash. S.T.F.U.

I didn't hear anyone whine about the choice they made. Some one had a problem and asked a question about how to correct it. It is all the other idiots posting that makes threads like this unbearable. If you don't have an answer about the problem in question, just move on the the next thread.
As far as the issue in question, you can always go back the previous restore point, assuming that a restore point was created.

I did propose an answer to the problem in question. You and some others just seem to take exception to my answer.

how about borderless printing? or have they fixed that now with a later 'updated' OS 10? ;)
and if you're getting BSoD - buy decent hardware to go in the PC ;)

Dunno about printing. Don't care either. I don't print photos at home, it's really not worth it. Far easier to just upload them and pick them up at the lab in the morning. They have better equipment and better process control than I care to mess with.
It's a Dell PC. If I were to upgrade all the HW, it would bring the price up beyond that of the Mac and still be difficult to deal with.

Recently I installed several Windows updates and now find that all my PSCS2 preferences have been set to default. UGH!!! Any way around this is the future?
Mac Airline: The ticket is a bit expensive... all the stewards, stewardesses, captains, baggage handlers, and ticket agents look the same, act the same, and talk the same. Every time you ask questions about details, you are told you don't need to know, don't want to know, and everything will be done for you without you having to know, so just shut up. The flight is pretty uneventful, except you get to see the most spectacular sights, landing is smooth and you are left with a warm fuzzy feeling like you just had one too many beer.
Windows Airline: The airport terminal is nice and colorful, with lots of friendly stewards offering to carry your bags for you, stewardesses look like a million bucks, easy access to the plane, an uneventful takeoff... then the plane blows up without any warning whatsoever. Strangely, the smoke trail is blue.
Linux, FreeBSD et all Airline: Everyone brings one piece of the plane with them when they come to the airport. They all go out on the runway and put the plane together piece by piece, arguing constantly about what kind of plane they're building. The plane eventually gets built, takes off and has this fantastic ability to stay up consuming little to no fuel. Some flights have been documented to last more than a full year!
It's a Dell PC. If I were to upgrade all the HW, it would bring the price up beyond that of the Mac and still be difficult to deal with.

I also had similar problems with my handbuilt PC system. I did not take any shortcuts with hardware there. Why should hardware compatibility be my problem anyway? It should just work.
I didn't buy the Dell, it was supplied to me for work.
I have a firewire card in my desktop PC that causes BSOD, only when I connect my DVD burner or CF Reader to it. It works fine for my digital camcorder. But, I only paid like $15 for it.
Other than that, I can't tell you when the last time was that Windows itself actually crashed on me.
