Any ideas as to hotels in Amsterdam, anyone? Is there one that is highly recommended/been used before?

I never stayed at a hotel in Amsterdam. :)
There is a small chance that I might have a whole house available in Amsterdam-West at that time but I'm unable to say for sure the next two or three weeks.
I stayed at a place called Hotel Fita, up in the museum district, and liked it a lot. I would very happily stay there again, if I were able to make this event. Unfortunately I am relocating back to the US, so I will have to take a pass this time, and keep an eye out for Iceland.
Incidentally, Gary and Nasti stayed at a place down in the red light district that was fairly inexpensive, but it was also pretty dodgey as I recall. I don't remember the mane of it.
OK! Hotel booked - Hotel Fita full but they recommended the Hotel Aadlers which I got into as the last room! - and journey booked so I guess I am in Amsterdam regardless!
What a buzz and I have to say that I am really looking forward to it.
Nasti and I will definitely be coming, the last GTG in Amsterdam was great. Good on you Az for organizing a second one.

Well thanx I flattered that you try to get me there....but....but....I have to go to a Landal greenpark...with the inlaws..... I know....but have to.... it's their 45th wedding anniversary.

I'll try to do that tomorrow. At the moment I am at Casa Kapluggin -just back from Photokina, and we all want a Hasselblad H3D now- and have no access to my e-mail and stuff.
For the saturday I'm going to try to get a guide for a couple of hours to walk us around a bit.
We will probably meet up at the same place -details later- as the first time, as it is really easy to find and a nice central starting place for a walk. Anyone can join in at any time, even if you just show up at the last moment without being on the list.
If you are on the Maybe's and want to confirm or say you are not coming, or not on it at all, post here or pm me.
This is for the saturday only, for those who want to do something on sunday as well: We will discuss it there, depending on the weather and stuff like that.
Azz allready promised me to bring me to the train at 6 (I don't feel safe on CS in Amsterdam... who would?)
Lowonenergy and I will come with the train, not sure about the time yet, but probably before 12.

We are trying to reserve a hotel and book a flight. We will surely go. The only but is that my parent is ill, and maybe we finally can't go.But We'll try to. We'll tell you when we have hotel and flight.
oh by the way, because I have to travel back by train alone, and having troubles with my neck & shoulders with my camera bag, I'm probably not gonna bring my DSLR...
but I am gonna bring my Lubitel! I do hope somebody knows how to change those films :P
