I wish the challenge would have been 'Tertiary Colours', then I could have incorporated my favorite color (taupe) I think.
Tertiary colors would be so much simpler to define that is for sure, although looking at this thread here and having spent so much time learning color theory and understanding RED, YELLOW AND BLUE as the primary colors I am sure someone would have to argue as to what tertiary colors are to.
Red, yellow, blue. They're specifically stated in the challenge. As it's also been said in this thread, these three colors are the additive (pigment) primaries. Red, green, and blue are the subtractive (light) primaries. The latter set is not your challenge.

Yes red yellow and blue are the ones stated in the challenge, so they are obviously the ones we should use.
Btw the pigment primaries are cyan magenta yellow. (the red yellow blue thing was always just an approximation due to poor materials) Of course, as words like 'cyan' cover such a wide spectrum of wavelengths, its almost blue anyway and similarly with magenta and red
It seems many are taking this thread very seriously. My post, along with about 90% of the others, while interesting (color theory is quite interesting), were all made in jest. I think no one here is contesting whether the challenge is red, yellow, blue or not (it is), everyone is merely having a good time.

I thought so too :) Colour theory is interesting and entertainingly complex - even after several years of study I keep learning new things. We haven't even started on how best to use colour or what emotional effects they have.

Incidentally, if I shoot a very sad person, could I say they are blue? (Actually, I guess shooting anyone at all is likely to make them very sad, huh?) What if they are very jealous, I would say they are green with envy, and that is a mix of yellow and blue.
A very angry person could be red in the face, too, right?

When it comes to light the idea of it traveling in waves is just a metaphor for the more complex reality. So relatively speaking, we arrived here right at the start. Got to figure time travel into it some how...
What color is time travel? On "Back to the Future" is seems sort of white, but I wonder if I gave it a yellow tint if it could count for this challenge?

Throughout the Wolverine comic book series (timely) there is a character that is in the SS that gave Wolverine (Logan) his adamantium skeleton and claws, in order for him to become an SS weapon. He was called RED Skull. Hmmmm.
