I'd really love to come to a GTG in Amsterdam again, but I'm not sure if we've got the time & money to do so this time... and we sure as heck ain't gonna do that mad 18 hour visit we did last time! ;o)
Oh, and I've updated the thread's title to reflect the finalised date :o)

Thanks mate, lot better this way.
But, but, but, it wouldn't be the same without you and June. :(
It will be warmer, there 'll be meat, lots of meat!
Mwoah, this will not be the last time. Maybe I will see you at the 2007 Europe GTG or Iceland GTG then. :)
Any ideas as to hotels in Amsterdam, anyone? Is there one that is highly recommended/been used before?
Hmm, Nasti and DpDave might be able to answer this.
I never stayed at a hotel in Amsterdam. :)
There is a small chance that I might have a whole house available in Amsterdam-West at that time but I'm unable to say for sure the next two or three weeks.
So one recommendation and one avoid like the plague - thanks as the three times I have been in Amsterdam it was on business in top end hotels so I have no clue as to more reasonable ones!
On a high spot - the D80 arrived with the Tamron 18-200 a couple of hours ago. Now life gets interesting... and expensive
LMAO - no idea what happened to you in one of these herbal palaces but from the accounts of a good friend of mine who thought that the mushrooms were an interesting alternative to the other food on offer... enough said, I think. And she was someone very use to stimulating herb usage as well :-)
A couple of years ago I stayed at hotel Verdi in the Wanningstraat, very near the Concertgebouw and Museumplein. Quite simple but nice, good breakfast, not too expensive at the time. I think it's about 40-60 euro a night now.

Thanks Nicole, I will check that one out. Currently planning to get top Amsterdam by train - Eurostar London to Brussels and then Brussels to Amsterdam. Is this hotel far from the train station do you know?
