I'm not up there with the 6+ folks (and there sure seem to be a lot of them!) but then mine is not nearly as creative as a lot of the shots so I'm good with my score.
Aiming for 100%vote and comments again.. this'll be easy.. haha..
I've decided.. I'll just go ahead and enjoy the shots that's taken.. and have loads of fun commenting..
I'm impressed with the level of creativity in this challenge. My standards of judging weren't too rigid. I don't get stuck on issues like the definition of recreation though I definitely don't want those free for all pics to win and thus I'm voting appropriately. I have found my blue..

This is still one of my favorite shots, but I can see from this thread where it's probably getting hit a bit, though I haven't had any commenters say so yet... At this point I'm just hoping to make it over a 6.
I just want to say to the people who have commented on my photo and who will comment: you have my apologies. :)
Note to self: never ever enter a photo if I don't give myself the time to do it up to my own standards. Oh, and don't take a photo that's probably DNMC and make it clearly DNMC with the title.

On the up side, I have a great idea for rule of thirds!
And scalvert, yeah, in my opinion, it should've been a scene from a movie, not just a character or location. Which is why mine's DNMC.
As to how I voted:
- I gave bonus credit if I recognized the film or scene without looking at the title (other than one example that smacked me upside the head by putting the title in the photo). That meant the movie chosen was so famous I saw it.
- I gave bonus credit if it's an old movie and it's in B&W or otherwise made to look old.
- I took away credit only if it was clear to me this wasn't a scene, but something else. I mean, I wouldn't claim to remember all of the scenes from my very favorite movies, much less ones I've never seen.
- If I couldn't find anything remotely resembling the pic title in imdb.com, I left a comment asking the person to PM me with the name of the movie. I mean, the instructions were pretty clear that we were supposed to put the movie title in the pic title. IMDB's not perfect, so a reasonable response would satisfy me.
Voters are being very strict about looking in imdb.com and wanting a recognizable scene. That'll teach me for doing something not 100% literal. At least I treid something that I hadn't tried to do before.
My scores been pretty jumpy today. been so close to 7 it sucks to be down to this in comparison instead of still heading that way but Im still very happy with it don't get me wrong. others getting so many comments? this may be my most comments ever for the first day. i'm 99% sure its already one more than my ribbon shot had the first day. just a high commented on challenge?

That only seems fair. After all, unless you happen to have a high-flying media career, you're not likely to be responsible for any film that anyone's likely to have heard of. So I've tried to comment on the photos (whilst still mentioning e.g. if I've never heard of a film called "my cat goes walking")

I think each challenge counts the same, regardless of the number of votes. I think.
I believe it is a weighted average they use. The average of my scores is not the same as the average in my profile but I haven't looked into it further - it's close enough.
I wish I had more time to perfect my shot. My favorite movie, but just didn't execute it to perfection with starting the shot on the night before entry! I love the comments, would think I had an 8 with all the great comments. Thank you all.
well it's waffling from 5.9 to 5.4. it seems people really either love or hate it. i wish i could say more, but it'll identify the shot. i'll just whine to my dog instead...;-p
