Damn. A few hours ago it had made it past 5. Now it's back down to 4.8676. I've had a string of low scores recently (only my stdavidson photo is over 5) so I was really hoping for better. Once I knew it wasn't going to get the brown anyway!
Maybe I don't understand the challenge, but at first glance there seems to be a lot of images with subjects. By that I mean people, flowers, tress that are actual focal points and composition elements.
I haven't started voting yet. But in my mind there are many DNMC.
I am currently at 5.3. The 2 comments lead me to believe I understood the challenge.
Anyone else struggling with this?
This thread where interpretations of 'no subject' were discussed might be useful to you. Btw - if yer gonna go thru entries and make decrees about what their subject is, please pick something that is actually in the photo ;-)

I'm struggling. I think there's a very fine line there though. A picture that is purely abstract strikes me as avoiding the issue. When we're not talking about digital cameras, the term 'noise' refers to objects or elements in a picture that are not in balance/harmony with the overall composition. What I'm looking for in this challenge is pictures where every compositional element fits. Preferably that should be without one thing presenting itself at the expense of another, but on the other hand, an order of elements in which some stand out more than others, etc, may be a harmonious composition. The important thing (as I see it) is that overall composition here takes precedence over depiction of things.
