Also added some case fans and removed one drive. .
I'd be interested to see if the machine starts freezing again if you put the drive back in. Could have been an irratic drive, or hitting power limits on the machine.
the drive is sort of back in, its now in my video machine. No freezes, but this machine has the cooling system from..... was gonna say hell but that doesnt paint a very cool picture lol.
Okay, my photo machine is freezing up. It is only about 4 months old and an emachine altered...

Sorry, I just saw this post and had to put in my $0.02 USD. Under NO circumstances should anyone ever buy an e-machine. They are 100% pieces of crap!!! I handle our computer and network maintenance at work (among other hats I wear) and it's to the point where I tell my friends and co-workers that IF they buy an e-machine they are on their own... I will NOT service, help service, or provide any input whatsoever on these glorified piles of stinking dog poo.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Yes E-machines are crap but sometimes budget says buy the crap lol. They seem to work fine once you doctor them tho. The good news is the problem is 100% fixed. It wasn't heat, or ram or any hardware. Wasn't norton...... altho its staying gone I like the new stuff. It was, drum rollllllllllllllllllllllllllll
Adobe Photoshop Elements... I tried all the fixes on the adobe site, even called, still the problem persisited. I did a non distructive reformat installed everything but elements and I have had no problems.
I discoved this after the new 256 ati card was ordered. The guy at emachines said it was happening because my video card couldnt handle the new monitor. Sooooooooo my machine got a new ram, new drive, new video card, and new fans. Now I have to find software to transfer images to the puter.
Windows explorer should do the job... When you plug your camera in, it should come up as a drive in My Computer. Just copy/cut and paste the files where you need them to go. I would also suggest ditching Zone Alarm, Windows firewall does a pretty good job as it is, no need to have something more. Also, what did they mean by "the video card couldn't handle the monitor"? If anything, it should be the other way around. Video cards are changing and upgrading all the time, but monitors are still basically the same as far as what they can display (unless you have a special monitor).
I'm with mist -- what you described and how you fixed it sounds like you were pulling more power than your PS could give.
One more piece of software to suggest to help keep an eye on things -- Motherboard Monitor. It keeps track of everything from temperatures to voltages.
I shoot raw, so I couldnt see my images in explorer. Just installed a raw viwer from the microsoft site to see if that will do it. As for the monitor not being supported, I wondered that too, but.... it was a 256mb card vs the onboard crap so it couldnt hurt.
