Perhaps my real question is, if Raw Shooter, as bought by Adobe, was so good, what out there, if anything, replaces it? I am inclined to try something other than the Canon-provided RAW conversion s/w.
I guess everyone is using Rawshooter Pro and bought their copy before Adobe bought them... so they will have to cross that bridge when they come to it. ;-)
Actually I haven't used either one you are asking about but I have used Capture One for a long time, and I still can't say that CS2's convertor does a better job. The white balance utility in particular is much better in Capture One's software. It's made by Phase One if you wanted to hunt for a demo.
I was using Rawshooter, until someone pointed me to Digital Photo Professional, which I apparently already had on my computer. I think it came with the software/utilties disk that I got with my Rebel. Might want to check it out unless that's the Canon-provided program you're referring to.
I think Digital Photo Professional is the Canon utility. I have tried Bibble, and it has a lot of nice features, but it frequently crashed my computer. Helicon filter has a 30day trial. Tried it last night briefly. Some impressive features, but have not reached any conclusions yet. Other feedback on raw converters requested.
