I don't know why this received some of the comments it did. I would love to know what people were thinking when they looked at it.

and an unusually harsh comment which was withdrawn before the voting ended.
I don't have hard feeling, just bewildered. And a little amused
I think its that at thumbnail size it looks like a dog pooped on a beige carpet and wiped his but across it. I was really worried to open this but wanted to attempt to better answer your question. however in full size it was quite clear what this really is. a meatball with cheese. i'm assuming the people who left you bad comments must of had to have looked at the full size version to comment, maybe they were still swayed by their first impression which may have been at thumbnail size. hope that helps. its just a guess.
From the last Perspective challenge. A number of people thought I was portraying a suicide instead of a little hobo listening to the rails before crossing the bridge...
Not sure its good to dredge this up again. but some people took it as a bullemic thing. and others just were grossed out by the idea. I thought it was funny,and meant it as more of a one too many type thing. It was one of my first entries and taught me alot. especially that the title is important. and potty humor is not well recieved.

As soon as I saw the cat scan I laughed before I saw which challenge it was from... so mission accomplished with that one. (I think photography value of some challenges are not that important, such as humor.)
Barbie throwing into toilet in "still life" challenge... I don't know; it could be just me, but I really didn't understand it.
I always did like that one. It took me this view, however, to realize there are "fingerprints" on her breast. Do I assume they belong to you or her? ;)
this one hurt me alot. I think it is the coolest shot I have done untill my current perspective shot (which if you haven't seen yet get over there and vote. it is the one that is BADASS) most people it seems didn't understand zoom blur as motion blur even though there were others that did it and it was listed in the challenge description. It dissapoints me that a photo I was so proud of is my lowest ever.
This got a 4.7. Most people who commented loved it. It is very moving to me but I think most people just saw it as a bad picture of a fish. To me it was all about the fish, the ripples, the rocks and how the salmon blended in to her surroundings.
"Good Morning" in Duotone II Challenge My intent was to take a nighttime picture of the moon and by selecting yellow and blue for my duotone colors and playing with the grey level to ink intensity mapping (?) make it look like the sun in a blue sky. Not only did people not get it, I got one comment that said it wasn't a duotone!
It's called hide romance, fot it is a red rose, and a red rose is related to love... and hide because... well it's a different view for a red rose...
And some didn't even know what it was!! :(

Well, it is a very original photo... well executed and badass hell yeah... the problem is that... it's way out of the box... and let me tell you that I've learned that people in dpc DOESN'T like that!!! I've suffered a lot too... :( I mean... I really had enough of flowers, waterdrops and glasses! cheeses! but seems they're not... Ok I might be too excited here... calm down... calm down... ok I'm fine :)
People seemed to dislike my colors on this photo. Only two commenters really got it (or expressed that they got it) that the colors are to make it look more barren and desolate. I was pretty much forced to use that angle, but I'm not going to use that as a defense. I should have found a way to get a better one.

The title was a clue as to what is was (close-up of a power outlet); I thought it looked like the entrance to a cave, or of white alabaster sculptures I'd see at the art gallery when I was a kid.

Huh? Didn't these people have a childhood? I remember "listening to the rails" when I was a kid. How morbid do you have to be to think this is a picture of the alternative.
This photo was taken on a family portrait, and meant to represent cocaine addictions. An addiction I never faced, but was able to confront through various means.
Hence the Crossing the Line title.
In the Lines Challenge
It got a whopping 4.44
and a favorite believe it or not.
Many of the commenters seemed to understand what I was going for but most of the voters didn't appear to agree, like my methods or assumed it was simply bad photography skills (at least that's what I take from the voting patterns) rather than a purposeful setup.
I still like the image with all its blur and grain because it says [to me]exactly what I wanted it to. :)
