I would like to ask for the 300D for myself and my business. I am just starting out and while I have a great camera with S9000 Fujifilm I am still limited on what I can do for certain jobs. I have been working on horse shows and family gatherings and in fact have one coming up very soon that I would love to be able to use the professional equipment for.
I am the stay-at-home mother of 3 wonderful children, we do rescue work with our local shelters, I donate a lot of my time and prints to various organizations and do fund raising also with my photography, giving something back to the community that has given me so much. My husband works very hard but money is super tight and I cannot afford that last leap to DSLR finacially but now feel I am ready as a photographer.
I would use my S9000 as a back up while letting my two daughters use it as well to futher their creativity and ambitions towards photography.
The past few month photography has been a great therapy for me and my family, giving us all something in common to work around and be a part of.
I'll toss my hat in for Sher. If she recieves the item and there is a need for a 58mm CP I will toss it in to the mix. I'm not sure about which lens will be with it. But if either will accept the 58mm I will toss it in.
Phenominal! Louddog, you are so kind - and all the DPC'ers have such big hearts. That is why you are all so creative photographers; you are all giving of yourselves, and want to share your vision and hearts.
Sher is definately a perfect person to consider for this gift. She really is a giving, kind, talented person who never asks for herself.
She is humble about her photography, so I can only imagine she is like this outside of DPC as well.
"Currently, I use a Fuji S602. It’s really a great prosumer camera and it has a nice flexibility with regard to manual settings. I’m happy with it as far as the quality of photos it produces. It falters in low-light settings and the auto-focus is a bit slow. Of course, I would love to have more lens choices but it serves me well and it will do fine until I can afford something else."
Wow, with all the votes for Sher.......... I think I should withdraw my request, I think it's pretty obvious where the other people donating their stuff thinks this should go. I'm fine with what I have and didn't really feel comfortable asking anyway so I also vote for Sher. She's a much better photographer and will put it to better use I'm sure :)
No votes for me? :( After the departure of my e10, I've been going crazy. It's all work, no play. I wanna have fun too. *sigh*
Whoever gets it, I think this is awesome.
Hi. I sent a PM, but with so many people trying for this, I thought that I should elaborate so I could at least stand a chance hopefully.
I'm 18 and am just really starting to get into photography. I currently use a 3.2 MP point & shoot camera that I have outgrown. It has nearly no advanced features, so it makes learning how to do things manually a bit slower. I would really love to upgrade, but I can't even up myself to a prosumer type camera any time in the near future.
In August I will be starting my photography courses at the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design. I will definitely need an upgrade then, but I have no idea where I will get the money for that, as I have to live away from home and money will be very tight.
My mom will be helping me out, but she is also paying for my sister's University education, and we are on a single parent income.
To not turn this into a sob story, I just wanted to show how much I love photography. It is my passion, and I spend just about everyday figuring out how I can improve. Just take a look at my portfolio here, you can see a definite improvement from the first photos I posted to my current work.
While the 300D is not the most current DSLR, I would treasure it like it was worth a million dollars. To me, it would be the best camera in the world, just because I would have the opportunity to improve. I would carry it around with me, and strive to learn everything I can about it, while taking photos all the time.
I plan on making photography my career, and just starting out I could use all the help I can get. Please, please consider me for this amazing gift. I promise I will put it to good use.
Whew! Been a busy morning. I replied to all the PMs I've received. If you sent me a PM and didn't get a PM back from me you might want to re-send it.
I also complied a list of what everyone else is offering up. WOW! someone is going to get a really nice set up. Thanks everyone for all the stuff to go along with the camera!
Actually this is a selfish act on my part because it's going to feel really good to make someone very happy! It's really tough reading through all the PMs and picking just one though.
After confering with the others that are offering up items, I'll notify the person we choose on Monday and let everyone that offered up items know where to ship them too. It'll be fun for them to get all sorts of different deliveries from different people over the next couple weeks!
Awesome thing you're doing LoudDog... Do you got the list of goods somewhere? I might have some stuff as well... Cool filters that don't fit any of my lenses etc.
I was going to mention this earlier, Check out Moniepenny's Port and Blogspot, She's got the eye for composition and the desire... might just create a monster with this kind of gear.

You now what? I take back my withdrawal, or did I even really withdraw and had just thought about it. Anyway, I would still like to be considered for this because one of my problems has always been to roll over and give up but not this time. Sher is great but darnit, So am I! :) As is everyone else who has asked to be considered.
I'm no more deserving than the next person, but I'm no less deserving either. I work hard, I'm trying to make a living with this so I can stay home with my kids and I do a lot of charity work as well with my photography, giving part of the profits back to organizations that use my services. I'm a good person, I really am! ;) LOL, okay, all joking aside, this would/could be the boost to get me over that edge and get people to really take me seriously at what I do. If you choose me I would treat the camera like a child, just ask my children. They think I care more for my camera equipment than I do them sometimes. :) I'm told I have a gift and I would love a chance to get a really fine camera and really start exploring my talents.

And thank you Shail for your vote of confidence! :)
i am constantly amazed by the sweetness of spirit and generosity from the DPC family. your words of kindness have brought tears to my eyes and i just wanted to say that, regardless of the disposition of these wonderful gifts, you all have my most humble gratitude and respect. i am honored to know you.
