Here is what I found desolation to mean straight from dictionary.com. I'm worried that Dr. Achoo's definition and the definition i have are different and may cause a problem if I decide to enter this challenge

Those two sets of definitions are not at odds with each other. Your 1 = his 2; your 2 = his 3; your 3 = his 4; your 4 is a little different from any of his...
I'm starting to feel a little depressed by the challenges lately, first failure, then empty rooms, now desolation.... at least there shouldn't be much to argue about on this one.
I agree. After all the other sad challenges, I'm not at all inspired by the thought of 200 dark, dreary, grunged and depressing photos :-(

Just my opinion but that doesn't seem to fall into any definition of desolate that I know of. It would be perfect for a Disgusting Challenge, however.

I just wanted to make sure that if i shot a picture of a nuclear disaster site that happened years ago and you see a bug (that has probably been effected by high levels of radiation) building a nest off in a far corner...that I don't get DNMC for every comment.
Ive had this one photo idea in my head for almost a year now...and I finally get to do it! tho hubby thinks Im insane for even having the idea, now he will know for sure when i actually do it! heee heee

Went out tonight for a framing shot and came home with desolation! Isn't that the way of it.
A week now to look at the shot and i'm sure i will hate it more and more with every day.
Got a question. Can one do an interpretation of the results of nuclear war, and will the voters allow themselves to suspend reality just to understand what the image is saying? There isn't nuclear fallout right now, but the concept and creation of it can be.

I SO agree. I've got two shots for the Bokeh challenge that I really, really want to submit, just to see how they do against each other. I run into the 'which should I submit' delimma almost every week.
I'm in - hopefully this one will do better than my recent submissions. It was another trespassing adventure. I'm starting to enjoy those! At least this time I didn't get caught.
Sighhh... I don't know.... I went out the other day to try to shoot bokeh and ended up finding something that fits desolation, but it's just not....WOW. I might see if I can come up with something better today, or I might toss it in just cuz I hate not entering. And I might get some helpful comments on it, who knows?
