It was the oldest and the tallest tree in the forest. It had spread many seeds and new trees grew up from those seeds. Some were almost as tall as the old tree, but they could never exceed it's height. They became jealous. So they made a pact to sway into the old tree when the winds came. With each season, the old tree became more unstable and no matter how much it tried to expand it's roots, it wasn't able to withstand the efforts of the other trees. One windy day it fell.
If I had watered it and done my responsibility, taken care of it, loved it properly and done my duty, protected it, the tree would not have fallen. It is now my responsibility to try to cultivate another tree of greater stature than the first, more grand, more beautiful, more.... everything. and somehow in this action and itimacy with this life, atone for that which was lost.
yes, I already know the fruedian, jungian, nietsche, blah blah blah reasons why I said that. but that really is automatically what I thought of.
The tree fell because it's not meant to be here. The soil is poor and shallow with nature's concrete close to the surface. The tree needs deep roots. Each time it falls, I stake it in place, again, and hope that some day it will break through the caliche and take hold.
the tree of life. my tree. it has grown, and fallen many times.
with every stage of my being, charactor, ego, super ego...human, my tree becomes more than it was.
with every growth, and branches reaching out, seeds of knowledge, love, memories, friends are sewn before each fell.
my tree has fallen a dozen times. it will fall a dozen more. and before it falls again, new friends, love, knowledge, memories will grow, along with a new sapling I call my tree.
Its all the same. All energy is the same, just formed differently for now. We are trees, trees are the earth, the earth is the universe, and there is no difference in any of it. This is really only some other energies nightmare anyway.

Semiotically speaking, we all know the genesis of this question is the central reality-conundrum of all time: "If a tree falls in the forest and there is nobody to hear it, does it make a noise?"
Now, consider that I am deaf, and ask yourself (in the context of the question) "Does that make Bear a nobody?"
I submit that it does, and conclude there is no forest, no tree, no earth even, since there is no me...
