Actually Jimmy Its just a false perception as to be so big.
Its actually a little bit shorter that my F250 extended cab that I traded in for the excursion. And the 4 door crew cabs are 18 inches longer than the extended cab's. When you put a shell on those things they look huge!
But what I like about my Excursion is for me its very practical , I can haul lots of people (which I often do) and still haul a ton of materials for my Cabinet buisness (Literally 2200 pounds or more) and pull over 14,000 pounds.
Downside of course it takes a lot of bucks to fill its 44 gallon gas tank ,but maintenance cost is a third of what the diesels is.
To save gas I ride my V-Star 1100 Classic Yamaha motorcycle when weather permits.
I drive the National Car of Texas...a 2002 Ford F250 dual cab pickup, with 7.3 Powerstroke Diesel. Someday, it would be nice to live in an area where I could commute by bicycle, but in the suburbs of Houston, that is just not practical. My wife's car is a little more down to earth: she drives a 2001 Mustang GT. Our dream vehicle is a Honda Valkyrie (motorcycle); I'd like to drive it from Texas to southern California, up the Pacific Coast Highway, on up to Washington state, cut across to the Continental divide, and follow it back down. Take several months, whatever it takes. Lots of photo opportunities along that route.

The Citroen eqv of the Volkswagen Transporter, Ford Transit, Mercedes Vito /V. It is big and ugly and handles like a piece of shit, but you can carry a lot of gear and stuff with it.

Well I guess when you put in those terms its not so bad. I've been living over here in Europe for five years and you don't see a lot of big trucks or cars on the road. Moving back to the states will most likely be a culture shock for me.
Right now, my husband (Nards656) and I rotate between a Jeep Cherokee, a Ford Tempo, and a Chevy mini-van. We also have a Ford F150, and we just got rid of two Geo Metros (awesome cars, each had close to 150K miles on it).
I would love to ride a bike to work, but the baby's carseat just doesn't fit!!! That,and a 45 mile roundtrip commute, in the winter. nah, I'll drive.
Dream car??? I have no idea. 1940 roadster or something, maybe.
About 30 yeras ago we shared in a "block car" with four or five other housholds. You would sign up for a 1-3 hour chunk of time, and reimburse the owner by time and milage. There is now a commercial version of the same program called City Car running in San Francisco and the East Bay. since most cars sit idle about 90% of the time, it made a lot of sense to replace five vehicles with one which was more heavily used.
Of course, with the way Americans (US) have been trained to think of their cars, such a program will probably come under fire for promoting promiscuity...
Actually, it sounds like a neat idea. But in the rural area I live in, it wouldn't be practical, at all. Except for the mailbox, I can't walk anywhere (well, I could, but it would take the better part of the day), and we have a public transit system, sortof, but they tell you to be prepared one to one and a half hours before the scheduled stop and it may even be up to an hour late. Then, it only runs near (within 2 miles of my house) me once a day. Guess I gotta keep my car.
Hahaha, I feel your pain! Same here, my ride is a Metro transit bus as well. It's equipped with graffiti laden seats, some slashed seat cushions with the padding falling out, and other passengers that often have an unpleasent odor emanating from them! Plus, transportation on the glorious subway system is included in this dream package which is free with a University ID! Oh Yeah!
My dream car would have to be the McLaren F1 (a.k.a. dream on because I'm never going to get it).

Currently, I am looking to trade-in the STS for a vehicle that is far better suited to my two 75 lbs dogs. They are hell on the leather interior, they always want to drive, and start barking wildly every time they accidentally turn on the electric seat heaters and get too hot!
Probably looking at a SUV like the GMC Envoy XLT or the Honda Pilot? Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations to help me make up my mind on which SUV is the best?

There is no probability, whatsoever, that they get along well.
We have two show dogs – a Golden Retriever (Churchill) and an English Setter (PJ). When they fight, they are like two fiery Arabian Stallions fighting for total dominance of the herd as seen in a Disney film. Also, they kind of remind me of the Tasmanian Devil (TAZ) of Warner Bros. fame. Do you get the picture?
Of course, they are just playing, as all young males do, but since they are “our” little precious fur-children, they are absolutely spoiled rotten. I mean - I do not even like SUVs, or even want to drive one, and I am actually about to buy one to serve their needs – does that sort of sound like a real parent; sad, sad, sad, very sad indeed!
I have nothing special at the moment because I'm too cheap to buy something else. I drive an '88 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme. It gets me around pretty comfortably but I'm really looking into getting a 4 wheel drive vehicle eventually to go on rougher roads. My favorite car that I owned was a '67 Plymouth Fury 111, similar in shape to the '67 GTO. It was pretty sharp looking and got a lot of looks. I would love to get an old muscle car that was in excellent shape like a '70 Dodge Challenger. It would have to be my second vehicle, of course, because there not to great off road.
Michael ... get one of those big Hummers. They rock. Perfect for a mid life crisis, and the dogs will love it.

I've always loved the idea of having a SMALL SUV just like the RAV4 so my dog would have a comfy place to nap so I was delighted when they came on the market (it's a lot smaller than my neighbors' vans). I pack up the tent gear in the back seat, the dog lies peacefully in the back cargo area, & off we go.

I drive a 99 Toyota Solara V6SLE. It's the quietest car I've ever driven. Eeven quieter than alot of Benz's I've been in. More people get in and say "You can't even hear it running." But she moves and doesn't get bad milage. Two doors makes it a little tough hauling around alot of people. Only consulation is the back seat has a lot of leg room.
I love that SS. When I was a kid I had a paper route and a few blocks away someone had this same car in their driveway but in perfectly original condition and I aways thought how great it would be to own that car. True classic muscle car!
