Dave thanks a bunch for the praise. Green and Yellow was taken near the lake at 31st street, and the night shot was taken by the Planetarium. I am pretty sure the horizon is straight on the night shot, and that it is the recess of lake shore drive near the water that gives the shoreline an uneven look. I had to level by the buildings.

How about 9:30 am? The musium opens at 10:00, I don't know if we are planning to go inside though.
Unless it's an absolutely miserable day weather-wise, I don't want to spend much time inside, and I'm happy to avoid admission fees. Just my personal take, of course. If it's an awful forecast, I may scrub.
I do not want to spend much time indoors either, I think more of the beauty this time of year is outside.
I also think 9:30am is a bit early. I know we has a few people traveling from Urbana and Wisconsin, so lets not torture them too badly. Is 11am too early? I would like to hear from the ones traveling the farthest.
11:00 am is definitely NOT too early for me. I could probably do as early as 10:00 but I don' mind hopping on the road by 7am. I'll defer to others who are traveling long distances.

9:30 *is* a bit early....but it could be doable for me. I've got family that lives in the suburbs, so I could come up Friday night and stay with them. Though I'd probably prefer the 11:00 time and just drive up and back on saturday :-)
I don't think I'll be able to make it, so you can remove me from the maybe list. I don't have any way to get down to Chicago and I have a ton of work to get done, school ends in a few weeks so it's crunch time. Sorry guys and girls... Anyone want to make a Minneapolis GTG or Milwaukee GTG, cause I would totally be up for that. Sorry again.
Why don't we set a loose time of 11am for now, if there are major objections we can change it. I will update the top post.

You have a couple of train choices
1 - Take the blue line all the way to the Monroe stop, but then it is a few blocks to walk to the Art Institute from there .
2 - Take the blue line to the Clark stop, and transfer to the Green line train (same station, but on the upper level). Take this to the Adams stop and it is maybe a block from there to the museum.
You can also get the day passes at either one of the below Rosemont area train stations.

Anybody that is going to be there want to give me your cell phone number so I can track you guys down just in case I'm a little late? I live in Iowa and it's about a 2.5-3 hr. drive to get there. I'd hate waste peoples time having them wait on me if I'm running a little behind.
11:00 am will work fine for me too as I have a drive of 2-2.5 hours from my place - Bloomington, IL. As far as places are concerned, I don't have any preference as I mentoined earlier. I agree with everyone that fun is shooting outdoor this time of the year.

I have problem with sensor dust. I checked with the local store here but no help. I read some articles about cleaning the sensor dust. I am new to digital SLR, and never did that. Can someone please help me with that during our GTG?
Right - for all of those driving, you should consider the Monroe St/Millennium Park underground parking lot. I think it is up to $16 a day, but it is a good deal. If you do not want to fuss with traffic into the city, after a 2 hour drive, then Rosemont is also a good place to park and ride.
This weekend I will PM everyone on the Yes and Maybe list reminders and some more information, i.e. maps, meeting address, parking lots, contact info and maybe a loose itinerary of the first few stops.
If anyone else wants their phone info sent out, either post it here or PM me. I saw in another thread that the gtg group lost some members at one point, and since they did not phone numbers they could not reunite.

I was planning to park in Rosemont and ride the train in because I hate driving/parking downtown if I don't have to, but this sounds like a reaonable possibility. Thanks for the info!
Shailesh - I have the same problem. I just ordered some stuff to clean mine, I will try to bring it with me. I will more than likely clean mine before then though.
Shailesh and others, the Copperhill method seems to be the DPC concensus favorite for sensor cleaning. My advice would be to just go ahead and order the kit and do it. It seems scary but once you do it once, you realize it's not a big deal.
The GTG is not the place to do the cleaning, but the others in the group can reassure you that you CAN do it.
