After asking a few people, I've come to discover that some are of the opinion that a portrait is a depiction of a subject from the shoulders up... similar I guess to what you might get from Sears or Wallmart. It got me wondering how many feel this way and if they do, will it effect how they score. I'm surprised that this question hasn't come up yet so I kinda feel like I'm potentially stirring the pot a bit. Not my intention... :)
To me, from the examples I have seen, it seems that portraits cannot be full body. The emphasis seems to be the face for the most part.
Where are those professional portrait photograpehers out there???

I think anything from the waist up counts as a portrait. Portrait doesn't only mean a head shot, although here in DPC the more you see other than the head the lower you will be voted. Sad but true.

I'm not a pro, but I've gotten portraits from studios here with full body shots that are really cute. I would think a studio portrait is any picture that shows a person, or pet for that matter, lit in a studio, whether it's close up, 3/4 shot, or full body shot.
Which doesn't necessarily mean that people here at DPC will vote that way Ü

Got mine done, entered and am very happy with it. Don't care how this one does because getting it was most the fun, created a lot of fun memories today for everyone involved! ;)
