I won't bother with this one. Too many people have poorly calibrated monitors and won't see half of it.
I have had a couple of submissions that have suffered from not being seen properly - I've learnt my lesson.
Oooohhh... looking forward to this one. Hopefully this challenge will snap my poor performance streak. Funny thing is I just took this pic yesterday, which comes close to fitting the challenge description (with a few corrections and more contrast and darkening).
Not even gonna think about a ribbon in this one as I'm sure there are going to be a TON of great images produced.
OK, so I think I am ready for this challenge now. Spent the night researching and trying some new setups. Did a few practice shots and came up with this self portrait.
Now if I can just do the same thing to the subject I have in mind I should be all set (hopefully)!
I'm a little stumped by this one, would this be considered low key?
yes I think so debbie but I think Low Key has even further darker areas. This one has clearly some light in it but a good low key has maybe half of the light you see here. Just my two cents of course ;)
The problem here is that monitors are not calibrated the same and some people dont even calibrate their monitors. This will definitely be an issue with this challenge. So my prediction is that most will gravitate to the Hands challenge, leaving the "brave" to slug it out in this one.
Underexposed pictures can create a specific mood. Underexposed pictures will portray a different message than the same image will at a normal exposure.
Low key pictures concentrate on the darker tones, often conveying an atmosphere of tension or a powerful deep strength. This ha sometimes been use for male portraits, though more often a fuller tonal range with hard lighting is used.
