I just thought I would share a couple of pictures from yesterday. First off, it rarely snows on the Central Coast of California, so you can imagine my excitement. Anyway, here are a few pics to give you an idea of what our snow looks like. I'm sure this won't impress many of you easterners who actually own snow shovels, but I thought I'd share anyway.
Very very nice. You could almost hear the trees saying 'OMG, what is this white stuff?'. I miss the snow. It was 85 yesterday and I believe it should be around 80 today, but the humidity was around 90 too. UGH!!!

Wow, that's my kind of weather. I tend to like heat over cold. It gets over 100F here in the summer and I love it. I'm not if I like humidity though. Where are you MrEd?
The last time it snowed in the Bay Area was March 1896! The weird and freak weather is attributed to the cold arctic climates that seemed to have blanketed the entrie west coast and stretches as far as Arizona.
It's indeed surprising to see this in the Bay Area ;) Yay!

Spring has been very cold in the interior Pacific NW. At least in my area :) And it doesn't seem to be getting warmer either. I AM SICK OF WINTER!!!!

No way ... it snows about every 6-12 years around here. Somewhere there's photos from the mid-1960's of my elementary school in Menlo Park (elev. about 40 ft) with 2-3 inches of snow on the ground. Mt. Hamilton (near San Jose) gets snow just about every year -- unfortunately, both HamCams are down for repair/replacement.
Most of Scotland had pretty heavy snow today too. The park this afternoon was bonkers, so many people just laughing, playing and enjoying themselves....brilliant
Woo Steve, this is really an amazing pic. This is a deja vu reproduction of the work of Pieter Brueghel, The Elder (1525-1569). Two of his works in particular came to mind as soon as I saw your pic. The "Winter - Hunter in the snow" (1565) is a large print I have. Another of his snow works "The Numbering at Bethlehem" (1566) has exactly the same feel. Perhaps nobody else sees it like that but for me the connection was instant. I thought you'd like to know.

seems to be an exectionally heavy winter evrywhere!
here in germany 30km away from my hometown in the mountains there are about 2,50m snow!it's the heavyest winter since 1970 or so!
if it snows more the next two days, i can go to school by ski...*jippie*
It's "Haggis" (spelling correction) although pronounced more like the way you spelled it.....
As for Jack Daniels, we have quite a few single malts of our own to choose from.

Yeah, single malts are ok for people with 'taste', but for the tasteless bunch, good ol' American charcoal filtered, oak barreled aged, blended whiskey will get you through any winter.
Especially when washing down the haggis (spelling corrected).
Good to see you get out and make the most of it Steve...a really nice set of shots, and I agree with "Kiwipix" that the park shot with the City skyline is reminiscent of an old painting...shades of "Lowry" also.
The best I could manage was a "snapshot" in the back garden and only because my "big overgrown kids" bullied me into getting the camera out while they were reliving their childhood.
