I got 2 comments on my road photo: "dull, uninteresting." I expected this after viewing others in the challange, but hey -you have to start somewhere ! I think you people are too good for the likes of me , but thought I could learn something. Not going to join, just an amateur. Thanks for all the gorgeous photos to look at !
Don't get discouraged! How do you learn other than by trying something and seeing what others think of it?
This is my 2nd challenge and I'm seeing 5.4 as of now and mostly positive comments. I'm happy with that!

patio127... My current score is 4.0301. I received 1 comment. It said it could be interesting if it wasn't boring. Perhaps it really is boring....but this is my second challenge (1st is in Best of 2005) so I may be just plain boring...

Wow, that´s awful! 0 comments... :P Don´t know if this comforts you but shots in the 4.8-5.2 area don´t seem to generate too many comments as they are neither normally bad nor good so people don´t really know what to say, just click "5" and go on to the next shot. I know I have been guilty of that in the past. Sorry but you won´t get a comment from me, I am in the challenge and I tend to not vote on challenges I am in as I tend to be biased and vote lower than if I wasn´t in the challenge. Made an exception on the best of 2005 challenge though.
Find it kindof strange you only have 154 votes and I have 185, anybody got any theories about that?

interesting, okay i understand that but i'm doing it another way ... i really don't care if i'm in the challene or not i'm voting from the heart and mind :-)
there is a my way for voting called "five", you give your photo a 5 and then measure all other by that value, if it's subjectively better i'll be glad to give higher then 5 ... how much ? well it depends on compo, color, sharpness, details, light and so on ...
Oh my goodness, I don't think I've ever seen such a collection of boring photos, which is why I didn't submit one, cause I thought it would need to be something very special to get more than a 5. I gave out so many 5's in the challenge, because so many of them were the same, just a picture of a road. Saying that there were a few very special pictures that really spoke to me, but not many. I gave up after 60%.

I guess next time if it says "road" I will jump aboard the crowd train and photo the nearest traveling road. However, mine is also a bit on the controversial side. Recieved a few disagreeing comments as well as "without the title..." types. Oh well, the most important comment was one that actually went into detail actually commenting on the relevance. And I did have some one congratulate me on my bravery hehe

well, dassilem, maybe beginner's work is boring to experienced photographers. I'm going to keep entering challenges & am looking at a new camera. How do you like your Nikon ?

I agree with both of you (patio127 and kingduck777). I did it for fun and to learn too. Both of my shots I did NO post processing as I wanted to see what they would do. Good luck to us all...it will be fun watching us grow and learn which is why I joined.
patio: I love my Nikon. Although I have always had Nikon's so maybe I am not objective. My film camera is a Nikon N55 but I haven't touched it since getting the digital!!
I'm going to look at both of your pictures to see where we all end up!!!
For my first challenge, I think I'm doing ok...kind of apprehensive about posting the score, since there are still 4 days left (or so). Don't want to jinx anything :-).
