However, those kinds of scores are what I've come to expect in the Free Study contests on this site, so I'm actually not disappointed by it. It's quite a bit more challenging to score well in these imo, especially the big ones. Images that would otherwise be considered good get overlooked for the real "wow" shots or just plain lost in the crowd. My image is one that I had posted in my portfolio months ago and that received a bunch of very positive comments, and the one comment I've gotten so far in the challenge is a glowing 10. My first few votes last night were all higher than 8. So I know my own fondness for the image isn't totally misguided.
It's a fun contest to vote on though. I'm taking my time, working through a few at a time, so as not to speed-vote past the more subtle beauties. There's plenty of great work, and it's a privilege to compete with you all. :)
...I'm beginning to conclude 2005 was the year of the cat.
If the cat is in the form of an attractive woman then yeah it will be the year of the cat. I'd be shocked if a photo of an attractive woman doesn't ribbon in this and I haven't even looked at any of the entries yet.
Voting/commenting this challenge could be a part time job. I'm happy because my shot is hanging around 6.0 (for the first time in MANY moons). I'm also happy because one of my new-member acquaintances has a shot entered that I think is tremendous. I can't wait to see how he's doing!
What really is bothering me is that this shot has taken two first places and one second and one third in outside competitions. Here it is sinking faster than the Titanic going from a 4.9 this morning to a 4.4.
