A good starting point for this group may be to create a blog entry in your own blog that tells a little about what you already know about sports photography and what you would like to know. As each member of the group reads your blog, they may leave comments on your entry to discuss your posts. I'm in draft mode on a post called "What I Know, In a Nutshell". Hopefully I'll have that post finished later tonight or tomorrow sometime.
Hi guys, I just joined this place today. Been learning, learning, learning, w/ my 20D and have very much to learn still. I have been checking out the challenges and perhaps will enter something.
I love to shoot sports, in particular auto racing, my kid's soccer playing, and cycling (mountain and road).
I posted some sports car racing shots from this past October. See what you think. I'd love to get some constructive comments to help me improve.

i wont be shooting sports for about a month actually. I'm on winter break for school, but I will be doing quite a lot of shooting. I'll be in mexico for 3 weeks with a ton of film and a medium format camera. unfortunately i dont think ill be bringing my d70... i need to limit what i lug around.
I like some of what I see in people's blogs though.

I'm on break from school as well for the next 4 weeks, so until I get back to BU, I won't have much new. Some karate pics, if that counts....
I would love to join a group like this. I shoot my son all the time. (He is a hurdler, and the State of Maine HS Champion). I also shhot my daughter, who is a gymnast, but light conditions are challenging. I would love to learn more from the collective experience.

I'll be around some social tennis this week and on Christmas day some friends will be at the beach for some volleyball. There is also an opportunity for surfing shots, but I don't have a lens with enough reach for that. Most of the organized stuff is on a break for the holidays.
I'll take my camera along and see if I can get some shots with a faster shutter speed. John, your blog post is very helpful.
I only read the initial topic for this thread (it's late right now). I would love to help out in any way I can. Sports comprises the overwhelming majority of the photography I do.
If someone who is running this idea can email or pm me the basics of what I can/should or need to do, I'd appreciate it so I can get started.
I'd love to join the group, I have 4 sons and they all play sports so I'll be shooting year round. My goal is the shoot one of the top 3 professional games football, baseball, or basketball. I'll get a blog today...
