Does being in the 4's or whatever really make people wish they didn't take or post their photo?
I have been in the 4's a few times recently and likely will be there again this time. I never really thought "I wished I hadn't taken the photo or entered it".
Not to say you should love to get lower votes but I think sometimes the lower scores teach you as much about photography and where you are at than high scores.
well... much nicer this morning... one of the rare times my score has increased in the over night voting. at least now, it doesn't seem like i'm gunning for personal worst.
on another note, ever wish you could go back and change your title?

Unfortunately, superficial things such as "Avg. Vote Recieved" carry far too much weight with me. Sad, I know. :-) I just started getting mine back up, and my free study will help, but his little gem is just gonna pull it back down, down, down..... I've been trying to make a concsious effort to be more selective with my entries, but sometimes I get that itch and I've just gotta scratch it. I'll just have to live with the scars. :-)
I'm right at a 5.000 and my image although not complex is very simple and technically sound, I just don't know whats happened to the voting system lately, I've had far worse images rank higher..

Hehe...I would never say the average vote received is superficial. It is simply a measure of what the people here have, on average, voted so far. It is not a future predictor of anything. Look at Joey Lawrence or Heida..they started out really slow, experimented with their own style, got piled on for a while..then refined their look and turned into superstars.
In my opinion, I did not suffer enough early on and bought into the score is all mentality. Now I have more experience, better equipment, and the willingess to fail I didn't have 3 years ago.
I am getting lower scores than years ago but I feel I am learning more about what I like and can do about it.
