I guess my creativity has gone dry elli :( as shown in my scores. Like most, I thought this particular entry was good for at least a 5.5. All that I hope for no is to break the 5s. It's not that great seeing 2 challenges with scores of 4+ in my home page ;(
i did my entry in less than 5 minutes - from setting up the shot to shooting, to converting raw, post processing and uploading to the challenge. I think it shows :-)

if the photo is legal, then there's no harm done, if it's illegal, then we need to know. We cannot check into photos if everyone is scared to request that we look into it. So far there are no requests, which leads me to believe that everyone thinks everything is legal. No one knows if or who makes a DQ request except for SC. If you received anything from SC referring to a DQ request, it was an informational/educational message...not anyone calling you out. Sometimes I like to send messages linking to the tutorials so people can learn from it if they didn't know they could legally achieve a certain effect. Besides, just because it CAN be legal, doesn't mean it is. I'd hate for an illegal photo to slip by cause no one wanted to request validation on it.
Fine, I will call that one out for DQ and the reasons why.
The last time I did that though, it was a pretty large challenge and I found about 10 that I thought needed viewing. Maybe it was too many, but I was basically told that a.) I don't understand in-camera technique and b.) that council can see the comments by the photo submitters so they can tell what was done (which doesn't tell ME a hell of a lot..LOL) and c.) that council basically has a lot to do and to view that many photos requested for dq in a challenge by just one person is a bit much. (I believe they meant that if others all did the same thing, they would be overwhelmed).
Not all that in so many words, but nonetheless, I just stopped asking for dq's. In most cases I am finding they are catching them and I see it after contest's end, OR they find things I didn't even know about, so I pretty much trust their own judgement. However, I will request this one particular photo for DQ and the reasons why, which may not be that obvious.

LOL..OH really? I spent all morning on my shot. Took about 65 photos and well, I won't say any more, but you get the idea. My score is presently at a 5.000 so don't feel so bad.
As for last minute entries, my free study was last minute, and I am nearly at a 6.0. For that many entries? I find that darn good for a last minute entry. Fact is? One never knows, so I just keep shooting and trying. I also have very high hopes for early/late. I will stay positive, until the midnight voters hit the hay. LOL....

somone just gave me a 1 so i guess my Free Study and Fork scores don't match up anymore. To think that my Free Study was a bad image too.
Looks like the #1 troll is going through at the moment. I just got a 1 vote also. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr....I would like them to show their face especially as they haven't got the guts to state why the image is deserving a 1.
I can now tell my husband that spending the money on my new camera was worth it ;-) hahahahaha! And at least I can go to sleep without having the "update button itch" all night. Some really really nice shots in this challenge!!

If our images deserve a 1... that's fine. As long as they tell me why and not use the cover of the voting process as a mask for their inadequacies ;)

I totally agree. I reckon that all ones and twos voters should have their identities revealed at the end of each challenge. Then the image owners that want to know why they got that vote can ask the low voters how they can improve their image to get higher than a 1 or a 2.
Surely these low voters are such good photographers that they wouldn't mind helping out us 'inadequate' (tongue in cheek) photographers...lol!!!!!

I am going to be in the bottom 4 on the knife fork spoon one. Although my pictures not too wonderful I should get an extra point or 2 for uniqueness. I didn't expect to do very well on this one and I was right.
