That is probably only the case with a nikon...the latest generation of Canon IS looks great either way. |
Depends on the particular lens I think.
The 100-400 IS can produce some odd bokeh occasionally, depending on shutter speed, apeture, and how much shake the IS is having to correct. I had borrowed one a while ago and noticed some odd 'mesh' like bokeh in some shots that was similar to the examples posted here in a thread about IS bokeh some time back.
The biggest difference in Bokeh with the newer L lenses is the rounded apeture blades, which makes the bokeh much more pleasing at less than wide open F stops.
