Brad: Your image receiving an average vote of 4.1765 is simply inconceivable. How is that possible?
I must still be dreaming. This by far is my highest score to date (well my DQed Sundial bridge was my highest at 6.9 although no one knows). I am humbled by the comments and the staggering amount of views... to say the least.
I'm scared to say anything about mine for the fear I might jinx it.
uh oh. how high? do this:
5.9xxxx
6.1xxxx
6.5xxxx
you get the idea :)
I wonder if my score ever holds if it's enough for crack at the top 10 or potentially a ribbon in this challenge? hmmmm... ok i am dreaming... back to work (yeah... yeah... i'm still in the office burning the midnight oil... for the young ones out there, don't be an architect like moi ok???)
See damnit!!! Just as soon as I said something it dropped. That's it, I'm not saying anything else.
I never had anything over a 5.5 and I'm not gonna jinx it anymore.
This will be my worst pic ever. Oh, dude, I must get myself together and start shooting something better...
blue_dragon, sometimes it's not about whether the shot is "better".
Trust me, my shot this week is one of the best I have turned in here...certainly a lot better than this one I did....//www.dpchallenge.com/image.php?IMAGE_ID=4567
You just never know what will strike people. I have a sinking suspicion there is something in my photo that is a bit controversial and I knew it before I turned my photo in.
I've limped over a 5 (whew). Now I just hope it stays above that! I thought I was back in the groove with this one too. I've gotta get my thinker examined! ;-)
Is anybody voting on this? I've got only a couple of votes/views since last night. It must be so ugly that people don't even look at it. But, I'm within reach of 5.0 (hovering around 4.9xxx). Since there are only about 100 votes, a single pair of 10s would throw me over 5.0
I have a entry(Potrait) with shutter speed 1/30. Will this be considered out of place? I am getting comments saying it's out of place. My problem is that I didn't put the shutter speed in the titel itself.
I will appreciate if someone can reply on this. It will than give me some justification to my low score -- 3.74 :o(
Shailesh, I think people are geared more towards seeing creative things done with shutter speed like stop action shots with fast shutter speeds or motion blurred shots that convey movement of the subject.
Yes every shot taken involves shutter speed, but I think you might have mis-interpreted the challenge. 1/30 is pretty normal.

My score just dropped without a new vote being added. This means someone changed his vote. Thats OK, but when I calculated it, the vote of this person changed by five points! That's a lot. So I am thinking: is someone voting 10's and then changing them to 5's? That's weird practice IMO. Does anyone have another explanation for this?
ajschel, only other one I can come up with is multiple persons doing the same thing at the same time, I know I lowered a couple of my votes by ONE point, and raised a bunch of them more than one, but if someone, or more than someone else had done the same thing in the last hour, maybe (know it is a stretch, but is possible) the aggragate total could equal 5. Other than that, and you have your math correct, does not make any sense to me why ONE person would drop any photo 5 points, but then there are lots of things I do not understand about the way people vote here!! LOL
