So has there been any talk about making it so that the critique club members can select which image from the queue they would like to critique? I mean flag them with a red star or something if they're over 10 days old or something, I'm sure someone will grab those ones up.
The whole idea of the Critique Club is that you get randomly allocated images - being able to pick and choose which ones you want to do will mean that the ones that really need the help (the middle and bottom of the results ones) will probably get less critiques.
As for old ones, they only stay in the queue for 7 days, and get replaced by the new challenge results (sun/mon for members, tues/wed for open, etc), so there aren't any really old ones still sitting there. If we didn't clear the queue down like this, we'd end up with a massive backlog that we'd never overcome.
Just a reminder that if you get an image you really can't critique, let myself or konador (or heather) know, along with why you can't do it, and we'll de-allocate it for you.

Well, that sounds fine and dandy, but my point is, and maybe you missed it, that say I for example like portraits and Joe1234 is great with landscapes. Now I've never taken a picture of a landscape, and Joe1234 has never taken a picture of a person -- why would I then be randomly given someone's landscape, and Joe1234 be given the portrait when if I could CHOOSE the portrait, I could offer a better response, and vice versa as well.
I don't think that people who signed up for the critique club are necessarily interested in critiquing good or bad...I, personally, could care less whether I have to point out flaws or compliment someone on their work, but there are definately certain images I'd prefer to do over the others, and I'm sure other members would rather do those that I wouldn't want to do over some of the ones they will get.

Unfortunately, as the system is set up now, like you mentioned, after 7 days, entries are just bumped off the list. If this were changed, I think more people would offer more critiques...and those critiques would be more beneficial to the parties who requested them, and those giving the critiques would be more likely to come back to give more. Do you understand now?

I agree - part of the 'educational' value in doing the critiques is being forced to comment on an image that at first glance looks impossible to comment on. It makes you look harder, deeper and forces you to consider what the photographer saw in their mind's eye. It's just another DPC challenge:)
